Quick question I was asked by my youngest last night adn could not answer, so thought I'd trawl the seas knowledge that is BCF and see where that leads me (the DSA website is not exactly written in easy language to understand)

At 16, you can get a Ped license, CBT and ride.
At 17, you can get a provisional for a 125, CBT and ride.

I get that much

At 16 you can do your test on a Ped (why you would? I have no idea, but, hey.), Theory, Mod1, Mod2 (I assume)

At 17, you can do your A2 test and ride away on your 125 with no L Plates, Theory, Mod1, Mod2

At 19, you can do your A1 test and ride away on your restricted bike, Theory, Mod1, Mod2

At 21 (or whatever), you can do your Full DAS A test and ride away on what ever bike you want, Theory, Mod1, Mod2

Here is my question, If you pass your A2, or A1, do you need to resit your theory when you do the next test up, ie, you pass the A2 and go DAS a couple of years later, do you need all three parts again, or do they take your bike thoery entitlement from your A1/A2 as valid and require you only to to the Mod1 & Mod2 to get going?

I went DAS, so it did not really bother me, but it is something which I now would like clarified.

Cheers to the legal and procedural Guru's out there.

Mike

At 16 you cant get a motorcycle license.

At 17, you can do your A1 tests and ride away on your 125 with no L Plates, CBT, Theory, Mod1, Mod2.

At 19, you can do your A2 test and ride away on your *35kw/46.6bhp restricted bike, CBT, Theory, Mod1, Mod2.

Once you've held your A2 license for at least 2 years you can do your A tests (unrestricted license). Mod1, Mod2 (no theory resit here) and you can ride what ever bike you like with no restrictions.

If you haven't held an A2 license for 2 years you are not eligeble to do your A tests until your 24. CBT, Theory, Mod1, Mod2.

Once you've done your motocycle theory and CBT and attained any of the three motorcycle licenses (A1, A2 or A) you never need to do your motorcycle theory or CBT again.

*-That didn't produce more than 70kw/94bhp as standard
-Power to weight ratio doesn't exceed 0.2kw/kg

Once you have a full license (any category.. A1/A2 etc.) you don't need to re-do your theory test, otherwise it lasts for 2 years. Also you got A1 & A2 mixed up (easy to do as you'd think A1 was the bigger license). Oh & its 21 if you get your A2 license at 19, otherwise its 22,23,24,25 etc etc

Confused yet? Smile

Slightly clearer Smile

So once a bike test has been done (any one), Theory, Mod1,Mod2, no furhter Theory is required to step up, only the qualifying Mod1 & Mod2, is that correct?

Sorry, not totally switched on today

That's right Thumbs Up

Once you've done your bike tests once, you never need to do your theory or cbt again in order to do another bike test.

As an example, If I had attained my A1 license when I was 17 (CBT, Theory, Mod1, Mod2) and rode my 125 without L's until I was 19. When I wanted to do my A2 tests at 19, I would not have to do another theory or CBT.
