Am considering going up to Blackpool for a few days next month, wondering if there are any B&Bs that have off road or secured parking for a bike? More concerned with drunken revelers thinking it'd be funny to mess with it than theft, so anywhere with "out of sight" parking would be good.

Failing that, any recommendations of generally bike friendly B&Bs?

Blackpool is like liverpool on sea so what you really need is a b&b with underground sealed bunker with armed guards and attack dogs. Your bike might then still be there in the morning.

I lived in Blackpool, kept my bike in my hall behind a locked front door .... Theives still managed to steal it Shocked

Don't go to Blackpool, not worth the worry Smile

Saying that I have no problems leaving my bike in a car park for several hours in daylight hours by Wilkinsons, but I would never leave it after dark.

Most hotels & B&Bs only have on street parking or parking spaces outside the hotel's front door.

You might be better off staying outside the town in a Travelodge or similar if you want off road parking.

My son lives in Blackpool, much as I like to see him I hate Blackpool.
When I moved there I said I was only passing through. I was there 5 years and that was 5 years too long.
The best thing about Blackpool is the A586 that is the quickest route towards Devil's Bridge.

To OP, have you thought about Lytham St Annes? You can always get a bus into Blackpool, your bike will be safer there than in Blackpool.

I have found one option for you if you desperately want to visit Blackpool https://www.parkingblackpool.co.uk/ charge £8 for overnight parking and is not too far from the shops, tower & clubs.

Travelodge...just off the main drag and pretty safe parking as theres always someone coming and going. Leave it right by the front door and preferably chained up and it will be fine.

A bit of over reaction from a few posters there! Blackpool is no worse than most places and definitely better than Manchester, Liverpool etc. Just be sensible, there are always scumbags wherever you are.
The travel lodge idea isn't a bad one. There are a few on the outskirts and on Yeadon Way going into Blackpool. They aren't secure but usually have a night porter if you park it near reception. A lot of hotels have back yards that can accommodate a bike and if you look at ones in Bispham (North of Gynn Square) the quality is better and the general area is better. Most of the idiots are around Central and South Shore areas.

I think that's where we stayed on a juniors rubgy trip (there's more than one Travelodge in Blackpool). Looking it up it was the south one (this one). Google map/street view if you click here (with a bike in the car park!).

Cheap and cheerful and iirc the car park was one of the more secure I'd seen around Blackpool, certainly not on-street. Night porter kept us supplied with (bottled) beers.

HTH Thumbs Up

Well I was delivering to Wilko's in 1 of their trucks.
The loading bay is inside the car park

It is a nightmare in a car, very tight turns and small parking spaces. I use that car park when I go to visit my son and I am in the car, when I am on the bike I park in a car park behind what was the bus station. I have never had a problem there during daylight hours, but I only ever leave it there for a few hours. When I lived in Blackpool I used to keep my bike inside my hallway as I did have a gpz500 stolen from my back yard Shocked

Only for 40 years and still a current resident. Lived in Central Drive and Church Street areas and used to park my bike in the garden with a chain. Never had one touched. Now have the luxury of a garage Smile

Did you have they key to the bike on a hook on the wall next to it because I am guessing someone living nearby is a thief to know when you would be not at home, and probably noticed that you took great pride in your bike and so that possibly made it a target to be stolen for parts or resale to some unsuspecting biker looking for another bike?
