Just bought a roadhawk ride for the xj6.

it can be hard wired so that it records off the battery.

id like it switched off the ign for obvious reasons but where is the best place to add the live feed for this function?

many thanks, jim.

Brake light would be an obvious choice, I think. I suppose you could also use the ignition live depending on the bike? I'd go for the former though, through a relay.

I doubt that the power requirements of a Roadhawk would necessitate the use of a relay.

I would still do it through a relay then you have a relay fed power supply for anything else that you decide to add.

If you decide not to relay it, then don't tap into the headlight bulb or it will turn off when you got to high beam, the sidelights might do it.

I think he's working on the assumption that the dipped and high beam have a separate 12v input.

Hey guys,

sorry to bump up an old(ish) thread, but seemed better than starting a new one.

I have just ordered the Roadhawk Ride and wondered, as a complete noob when it comes to electronics etc, is it easy to wire up?

SimonB you said you used the registration plate light, any chance of a pic to show how

I'll admit, slightly embarrassed by my lack of knowledge on this, I'm slowly learning all kinds of stuff since having the bike.

Cheers

HJR
