doesnt that kind of castor angle make the front wheel try to self centre to much?
and if you got the front to go light wouldnt it wobble like a shopping trolley wheel?

the answer to both questions could be no.
you have ridden it whats it do?

it feels dead planted. You have to balance rake with caster to make it feel neutral. I haven't had a speed wobble. It does 80 mph, and weighs 80 kg.

Technically though, hasn't THAT got to be a TRIKE?!?!?!?!
Always thought trikes were a bit strange... but in a world of strange, that one really takes the acid!

Sid's 1901 slinger, Duck.. it has three wheels, look.

Meanwhile, point of alternative front ends is to find some advantage over conventional forks; like reduced unsprung weight, better geometry control, eliminate stiction, etc... not sure what bob's steered swing-arm arrangement offers; looks rather a cumbersome take on a pretty common scooter 'trailing link' front suspension, but Bob obviousely had his reasons, if only to do something different.

Well I think it's a small motorcycle with a, large, one wheel trailer!

You can see it in action towards the end of this film:-

PostPosted: 16:28 - 20 May 2014    Post subject: rake and trail Reply with quote

It's got negative rake, not trail, if there is such a thing. I mean the steering head leans the opposite way from a normal bike. I think its about 14 degrees to the vertical. The trail is is about 6 cm. So if you drew a line right down the middle of the steering head, it would touch the road 6 cm ahead of where the tire touches the road. Normally its about 10 cm. So the steering is quick, and it kind of steers the way you lean. It also doesn't dive on the brakes because there is a rod from the top of the brake caliper towards the steering head. As the caliper tries to round with the wheel, that rod stops it. It pushes up, on the front of the bike, which stops it diving. So you can give it a right hand full of brake and then let go without the front going down and then up. .......boring, but true Shocked
