The prices look reasonable, depending on your area: Bandit 600s aren't a high group.

It might not be worth claiming on a 600. I'd try TFPT or TPO quotes as well and spend any savings on security.

Ehhh.
Does his license show category A on it? With "from" and "to" dates? Are there any notes in that row, like "79(tri)"?

1. You can only use one lot of earned NCB against one policy at a time. Are you getting rid of the car?
2. Some underwriters will accept car No Claims for a bike policy, some won't, some will take it into consideration without actually using it. The story will change on a day-to-day basis. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

1/ Are you sure that your CAR insurance earned NCB is 'transfereable' to a bike policy? You could be a bit stuffed if you have declared 4 years NCB and they then come back and tell you they wont accept it.
2/ When you say your Dad has a licence where he can ride a bike with a car licence... what do you mean? A Provisional? if validated with CBT? If he has a UK licence, then what he's allowed to drive or ride, depends on what tests he's passed, and if he's never done a bike test, chances are he's not got any bike entitlement other than maybe for a Moped.
3/ Did you put your Dad as 'main' rider? Did you list yourself as a named rider on the policy at all?
It does seem fairly cheap for F/C quotes on a bike not kept in locked compound or garage over-night, let alone in a public car-park!
But, if you got £7-900 quotes, for you as main rider, then declaring 4 years, maybe 50/60% NCB, IF they accept car NCB, could be about right. But frequently they wont take NCB earned on a car policy... only other bikes. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Sorry that was a mistake regarding my Dad. What I should have said was that he has a bike licence as well as a car licence. For some reason I thought he had a car licence and that entitled him to ride any bike as he got it in the 70's Dumb moment!
I would be getting rid of my car insurance and the car will be SORN. I just thought that I could use the 4 year NC to get a discount on my bike insurance. Even if I couldn't keep the NC going to extend it past 4 years, I would still be happy if it got me a discount. Has anyone ever done anything similar?
I put myself as the main rider and my dad as a secondary rider.
If I take off the 4 years NCD it goes back up to £700 for fully comp. If I put it as TP it is around £500-£600 |

Worth a thought before you go cancel car insurance....
NCB is 'Use it or Loose it'.
If you dont take out another CAR policy within the next three years, then it might not be available to use when you put car back on the road.
(Varies from insurer to insurer how long they will 'hold' NCB record for)
As a young driver, and likely to still be a young driver, facing punative insurance loadings; even in three years time, that 4years NCD could still be quite valuable... might be worth while, keeping the car insured, 3rd party, but minimum annual miles; and whatever huge voluntary excess gets premium down; your never going to claim against it; but if it costs you £100 a year? in three years time, it'll have cost you £300 to protect your NCD, and possibly earn a couple more into the bargain, bringing next car insurance policy down by more than you have spent keeping it 'live'. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
