Hi, not exactly a newbie (in some peoples eyes probably) but as Im currently bike mad and have been since my first bike, Im looking at getting a bigger bike earlier next year. LAst March I got an '03 NSR125 as my first bike, and loved it. I was so happy it was inbelievable. 3 weeks later it got stolen. Gutted. So insurance balddy blah, after paying 2300 for it, got 1800 back, bought an xr125, big difference, but still love it to peices. when my insurance runs out next march, im looking at getting a bigger bike.

Ive had 600's on my mind for ages, and quite a few have caught my eyes, and Ive done my research. TT600 (triumph, not yammy) would be ace. Zx600r (earlier models, G2 and so forth, lovely. CBR600F1, lovely. Then it hit me, insurance. Bastard. I could possibly afford it, but 2 factors come to mind. Would have to give up everything else (and Im not single, in this case, unfortunately Razz) and a 600 may be too powerful for me (believe me Im not scared Very Happy Id love a 600) but dont wanna kill myself. So I started looking at 400's, less power, still fast (will be for me anyways) and put it this way (not bragging) I can lean my xr round a bend stupid amounts, and it scares the shit out of me cos of my shouldered tyres Sad lol

Put simply after that marathon of words, after looking at a lot of bikes, a zx400r seems it would suit the ticket just fine. Id love to be a bit different too, as all my mates have VFR/CBR. WHAT are the thoughts, opinions, general consensus on these bikes? ID love to hear from people who've ridden/own/know lots/have any experience on the zx400r. Plus, I think they look shit loadsbetter than any other 400's, JUST my opinion Razz

Thanks, btw, Im 17, and I said id have to stretch for money, but Im planning on saving as much as poss by next march, should have in the region of 2 grand, maybe leaning to 2 and a half.

Cheers again Smile

Hi there guys, new to all of this and was hoping one of you might be able to shed some light on a situation. I've got a 1985 zx400 A myself, but have had sparking problems and have traced it back to the CDI Unit. Managed to find a CDI on ebay from a 1999 ZX400R with the same ten pin set up.

Do you think this will fit?

And can any of you tell me the colours of the wires that go in to each row on this unit?

Cheers,

Tristan

Ideal, thanks for that. Have dug through it and found some good information. Can anyone make sense of this?
