Hi,

My motorcycle tyres are beginning to show signs of wear. As stated in the topic title the side walls of both my front and rear tyres are beginning to crack.

Why is this happening?
Is this a big problem?
Do I need to change my tyres?
How often should you change your tyres?

Why is this happening?

Tyres are probably old and will crack over time especially when exposed in the sun.

Is this a big problem?

Yes it's a problem as you can have a serious accident.

Do I need to change my tyres?

Yes you need to change your tyres.

How often should you change your tyres?

Change them when the tyres are cracking, below minimum tread depth or have any other defects.

I rode my GPZ500 at "motorway" speeds on 11 year old tyres.

Sadly, I died twice. Sad

Not far wrong. Could use instant gasket first though, fill the holes before painting.
