Hi all
I'm after some advice. My son has a 2010 Aerox 50, it has the standard exhaust fitted which has a small (10mm) pipe approx 6 to 8" from the manifold. There is a rubber hose connected to this which goes to a small box mounted near the rear of the exhaust, then a larger rubber hose comes from this and disappears up under the belly pan.
I have 2 questions.
1) what is this?
2) The 10mm steel pipe has cracked and the power is shocking. Can I just cut this off and weld it up or do I need to repair it and leave the hoses in place?

I have a Stage 6 pro rep pipe for the scooter but don't really want to put it on as reliability is more important.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi thanks for the response.

I have some more questions.

I have now cut of the damaged pipe from the exhaust to the egr valve and welded it up. I refitted the exhaust and tried it, the engine will start but when you try to ride it it is very flatand hardly pulls then after about 20 to 30 yards Iit stops and then v won't re start. The plug is very dry as if it isn't getting enough fuel.

I didn't cap off the other rubber hose that went from the egr up under the belly pan so could this be causing it to run lean?

Prior to the exhaust problem the head gasket had gone and I replaced the head and all of the gadgets, I didn't put the thermostat back into the new head as I wasn't sureIif it was working. Could this effect the operation of the auto choke?

I need to get the scooter running as it us my son's only way of getting to work. He lives and works in Surrey and I am having to travel down from Doncaster to try andfix it so any help solving this would be greatfully rreceived.

Water-cooled - possibility

Air-cooled - Very Likely

Hi Iain

I didn't get to see your response until after I had re fitted the exhaust and found outI had this problem. The scooter is 3:1/2 hours away so it's not easy to try things.
I am driving down tomorrow to have another look at it and will try blocking off the return pipe.
If this doesn't help then i will bring it back home and spend a little more time on it.

Thanks Gave for your help.

Can either of you tell me where the hose goes to from the egr?

Cheers
Andy
