I find Held stuff to be good in proportion to how much you spend. They're good value if you can find discounted stuff from their high end range (quattrotempi etc). Other than that, you get what you pay for.

I have bought 4 Held jackets, 3 Held trousers and 1 pair of Held gloves. Of the 4 jackets, the cheapest was pretty naff (a mesh hot summer jacket I don't wear very often), and the most expensive excellent (proshell goretex, I wear it daily). Of the 3 trousers, the cheapest was so bad it actually had a manufacturing flaw - the trouser leg liner had a 360 degree twist in it, so that it was impossible to wear - while the most expensive is excellent, fully waterproof for the past 2 years or so.

The gloves I bought are the 2-in-1 summer / light-winter gloves (Air n Dry). They're as dry and warm as any light winter goretex glove with leather outer (i.e. not terribly dry in a prolonged downpour) and reasonably breezy in warm weather (you'll need to expose your palms to the breeze for maximum effect). They're not as good as having two pairs of cheaper gloves, but not bad if you're expecting to e.g. ride out in the evening warmth and ride back in the cool early nighttime, that kind of thing.

As to size, I've never had really good fit from any manufacturer. Gloves generally feel too big in the thumb but end up being slightly too short in the fingers when wrapped around grips. Gloves that are the right size to get the scaphoid pad in the right place are way too long in both thumb and fingers. I've had gloves between XXS and M in male sizes depending on what compromises I'm making.

I have some Saron summer gloves, and I really like them. They're really well put together. My other gloves are HG and they are all quite baggy fits as I've had to go large to get length in the thumb. The Held gloves fit me well, but do measure your hand width on their size chart as they use euro numerical sizes rather than small/medium/large

I like the emphasis on imact absorbtion and low friction material at the base of the palm where it meets the wrist. Every drop I've had the gloves hit there.

IMO held are taking over from the Hein Gericke type of gear.
So should be same issues, as said above.
I am lucky that the main stockist, GetGeared, are quite close in Leeds.

I've got Held Sensato summer gloves. Bought them last year at the end of season really so I've got to say I've not thoroughly used them as yet but so far so good; quality is there or thereabouts - in fact, I'd say the quality is better than my mate's Knox Handroid which I was going to buy until I saw how his had fallen apart in 18 months (stitching issues, wear on palms and fingers etc).

My only real observation which concerns me at the moment is that they're neither warm (went out early morning in the sun back in March, thinking it was warmer than it really was, and it was cold, very cold, and the gloves did NOT help) - but then you wouldn't expect them to be - nor are they particularly cool (on one of the hotter days this year I didn't really feel they had great ventilation - certainly my old Buffalo cheap gloves had better vents) which may or may not concern you depending on how sweaty your hands get anyway.

A few years back I got a pair of HG summer gloves, vented, perforated etc. Got to say. Fantastic gloves. Really cool on a sunny ride.

Held Frontino - discontinued, which means discounts Smile :

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/HELD_6061_Frontino_Gore-tex_Motorcycle_Trousers (£400, down from £490)

Held stuff is usually cheaper from German sites:

https://www.fc-moto.de/Held-Frontino-Gore-Tex-Pant (£308)

https://www.motoin.de/Bekleidung/Hosen/Lederhosen/Held-FRONTINO::29834.html (£290)

Pro-shell stuff is usually >£500 per jacket / pants. These are good prices - if your size is available.

The trousers are not feature rich however - don't expect loads of adjustment straps, ventilation, etc. Their feature is that they're waterproof and don't soak up water - you can hang them up and they'll be completely dry in a few hours. They have velcro waist tightening straps, that's it. Rather than have leg adjustment straps, they come in long, short and regular cuts, buy them to fit.

With these premium suits, you generally can't visit stores and expect them to have the full range and find the right size. The stores have to order them in too.

Only negative thing I can say about them is that the zips are a little bit fiddly, particularly on the leg ends.

Note what I said.

I can say with 99% confidence that J&S in Ilford will not have Held Frontino trousers, or any other Held trousers, of any size, in stock.

You'd be lucky to find them in stock in Get Geared, Held's primary UK importer - closest store to London is in Leatherhead, but it's not large.

After experiencing my pro-shell jacket, I looked in HG Gants Hill (the store J&S Ilford used to be) for pro-shell trousers of any brand. The only ones in stock were a £650 alpine stars pair in XXL, IIRC. I was glad to spend only £400 on my pair.
