OK so been riding for around a month or more, bought the bike in November but shit weather and not having big enough balls at the time made me hibernate.

I'm now at a point where i feel confident on single carriageways, country roads and normal roads. Starting to lean into bends and turns rather than doing 90 degree first gear turns and feel confident behind vehicles or in built up traffic. Gear changes are spot on now also, hill starts are still a bit dodgy but i can move off without cutting out.

Unless i post a vid of my riding then i know that no one is going to tell me otherwise, but should i go for a DAS now or wait for a bit longer? tbh i don't think i can learn anything more unless i come across a major "OMG" moment. Been driving also for twenty odd years so i think that helped me along the way.[/b]

tl;dr - Yes.

People can and do pass their A tests with 2 or 3 days of training. Stop wasting time on a tiddler and get it done.

Keep checking the site daily - often there are cancellations and if you're quick and regular checking it you can snap them up last minute for an earlier date - same applies for mod1/mod2 tests.

To minimise the chance of failing the theory get a cheap DSA dvd off amazon and squat up on the questons for a few hours - you should be able to memorise/already know enough answers to pass that side of it easily, the remainder is just the hazard perception - again, using dvd/online sites get an idea of what to expect and when to click with a bit of practice and it should be fine Thumbs Up

Regarding the original DAS question - i'd just go for it. I took my time on a 125 for a year and a half, after near 2 years on a scooter - in heinsight it was all an utter waste of time. You won't know if you're ready/able to do it until you try ultimately, some people don't pass first time with experience, others pass first time with no experience, worth a shot definately though Thumbs Up

Just revise for your theory and go straight in for the das. I never had a 125 or anything. I went for my cbt to see what it was all about and then got hooked. I booked lessons on the big bike the next day. Just go for it mate.

Not sure I'd say it's wasted time. I certainly enjoyed it and, obviously, learned to ride on one. The problem comes when you've passed your A test and you have to go back to a tiddler.. it's a bit frustrating.

I agree, if you've been riding around for a bit, then go for your DAS.

I wasn't sure about my riding so went to the school I was going to do my DAS with and they did a free 45 minute evaluation to see how I was. Might be worth approaching the DAS school you're looking at using and seeing if they would do the same.

Going to see them tomorrow, they quoted me £500 for courses, bike hire and tests etc. Might ring another school a couple of miles further and see what price they give me. A 45 minute free evaluation would also be great Smile

£500 sounds like a good price. Even if you bollox up the modules, they should do you re-tests for about £40 above test fees or so.
Go for it and never look back. Apart from your shoulder checks, mustn't forget those.

Well there you go, theory test passed first time tonight, wasn't as bad as i thought. Now for the Mod 1 booked in July, would have booked it earlier but work issues prevent it.

Thought i would post here instead of starting a new thread.

£500 for the DAS? That's great. I thought I was getting a steal for £580, but then I don't mind the extra because I'm getting two days of intensive 9am-5pm training on a Hornet for MOD1 then another lot of the same before the MOD2. The real pain is having to wait some weeks because the DVSA is booked with fairweatherers and there are limited slots available, especially with a bigger bike sitting in the garage waiting for the moment the paperwork is in my hand.
