Soooo, may have dripped some (lots) WD40 on one of my front brake pads. Yes, I'm that retarded Embarassed

What's the best thing to do?

File it off? Disc cleaner? Admit defeat and buy a new set?

Belt sander?

From a quick google you can burn off the WD40, or chuck your pads in the oven when mum's not home.

I'd give it a good scrub with hot water and washing up liquid and then go try the brakes. It's only one of the pads, after all.

Brake Cleaner?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Comma-BC500M-500ml-Brake-Cleaner/dp/B003IIETN0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1402955142&sr=8-2&keywords=brake+cleaner

This stuff cleans grease, oil, and all kinds of shit off my bike, leaves no film or residue I could discern either.

Oh I also use it to completely clean my chain from spraying alone, so if it can remove chain wax, wd4o is a little bitch in comparison.

****Try at your own peril but worked for me ****

Ride down the road at 40-60mph while applying the front brake it will burn off quick, I foolishly sprayed acf50 on my front pads while doing the wheels.

I'll stick it back in and see what it's like on the commute in the morning, if I hit a car I'll know it's not working.

Cheers for the quick replies as always Thumbs Up

Go for a ride and carefully burn it off. I have done the same with ACF-50 numerous times. Embarassed

Good news, I didn't die Smile

Pad has loads left so I would have been loathed to buy a new set.
