Just got offered £600 for my 12 plate Honda PCX with 5k on the clock. The bike's mint with full main dealer history and not a mark on it.

I couldn't stop laughing. Told the guy I'm after £1500 for a quick sale otherwise I'm happy to hold out for more. His response was, "well that's the going rate for these bikes I'm afraid, you'd be lucky to get much more from a dealer in part ex".

"Well..", I said, "I've been offered £1450 for part ex from a couple of Honda dealers regardless of what I buy from them, and I know I can get £1750+ if sold privately"..

"that's odd, let me look into it and come back to you", was his response.

I'd be a little annoyed if only I didn't find their offer so damn hilarious!

had the same for a mint 2013 pcx so they must be right Laughing Laughing

when asked i told them their offer was a joke and would keep it rather then sell it for that Laughing

they came back with best offer 900

so still got it Laughing

(wasnt really looking to sell but wondered if they would give me a half decent offer)

Did you imagine that they could they run a business other than by buying at substantially less than the lowest possible dealer cash offer or auction price? Thinking

But then how can they attract customers with what amounts to a slogan along the lines of "Guaranteed to offer you significantly less than you could sell your bike for on eBay, or part-ex with"?

Wow - so I can actually get LESS money??? But that's too good to be true! Will you also take any spare cash I happen to have on my personage?? What? You WILL?!?! Fantastic! Don't move a muscle, I'm on my way over even as we speak!!

Never tried the bike ones but the cars are a joke. 3000 for an 11 plate renault twingo with 25000 miles on it. Private buyer price from what car 4250 and for sale for anything up to 5000 on different sites.

Obviously they are there if you are desperate to sell in a hurry. I suspect they will be a bit better than what you would get in an auction, but not much.

Personally I tried my luck with them as have never used such a service for cars or bikes. My thinking was if I can get a half decent value I'd let the bike go purely for convenience sake.

worth a punt in any case.

I think it more likely depends on what you're trading in against.

I bet they would quote a much higher p/x for the scooter against a brand new S1000RR than they would a beat up cb500.

Agreed. My local dealer is willing to offer just shy of private sale price if I was to go for any brand new model. but then he was still willing to offer £1450 if I bought any used bike from them.

I think a lot of it comes down to how badly they need the sale and how quick they can flip your part ex'd model.

I ran my last car through one of the car sites, just to get an idea of what I could get offered as PX on it, later that day. The dealer's first offer was double what the "we steal your car" site offered.

Bear in mind that when you actually take your car/bike in to one of their agents he'll make tutting noises and say things like "look, the tyres are part worn" and "this seat has definitely been sat on" and "the paint has come off the bottom of the side-stand" to try and whittle hundreds more off their already criminal offer.

Seems sensible, mate goes through bikes like we go underwear, ok like most of us go through underwear, and he reckons the dealership only add a couple hundred ££ onto the p/x price to get rid of them quick....

I got £1600 from them for my Bandit that would probably fetch about £2000 on eBay.

However before I could put it on eBay it would need an MOT, new rear, new chain plus the insurance was almost up. So all of a sudden £1600 wasn't such a bad price.

They offered £1600 and gave me that, no hassle.

Hang on, there is a difference.

With WeStealAnyCar, you bring it in to them. They used to collect, not any more. They then keep you sitting around for hours while they do the crossword, before starting on the "This car's got the wrong sort of air in the tyres, that's proper misrepresentation, you're lucky I don't call the police." spiel.

WeStealAnyBike come to collect. If they want the bike, they have to show up at the agreed time, and if the truck monkey tries to get clever, he's the one out of pocket, not you.

Don't know how these businesses exist.
I'd never go near any 'We Buy Any' company simply because the original 'We Buy Any Car (dot com) any! Any! Any! Any!' Song still makes my eye twitch
