As title suggests I have had my Srad for 5 years now but it's starting to get a bit tired so I'm going to tuck it away in the garage for refresh at some point.

What I really want is a K1/K2 1000 I don't want to spend more than 3k and although there is a handful of Low milage tidy examples out there at the moment some of the asking prices will get you a K5 for another couple of hundred quid.

I don't want some dog rough barge that's been re sprayed in the back garden but "good finish considering I rattled it" or anodised foot pegs with matching gsxr heel plates.

I'm also aware that it's not the best time of year to be buying a bike Thumbs Up

Just wondered if there was anything specific to look out for on the K1/2 1000's

Am I being unrealistic expecting a clean unmolestered low ish miles (anything below 20k) for 3k?

If you look around you should be able to find one. Personally I'd be going for the slightly later R1 as that falls under 3k sometimes.. but its all about what you like!

Thumbs Up

I have thought about a vast array of bikes from Blades to a 748 but all I really want is a Gsxr don't even want a K3/4.

Now I'm not sure if anyone else is the same but do you judge a bike by the state of its surroundings? Maybe it's just me but when I see broken windows and white lightening cans next to a kids battered playhouse it kinda put me off even though the bike might be immaculate.

Realistically, if you can save 3k, save a little more and expand dat budget. Keep hunting and you'll find a stunner that someone REALLY needs to get rid of as they are low on funds.

Yeah Iv seen those 2 a few times can't the blue and white 1 I personally think is overpriced and can't really say I'm sold on the red but I appreciate the efforts.

There is 1 currently on there for £3250 and if the bloke is willing to drop a tad he could have himself a deal.

How about this one...

Yeah Iv seen that 1 too, looks decent but if I wouldn't pay £2900 for it maybe £2700 as I'd have to remove all the gay stickers, bin them nasty heel plates and find a proper undertray and put a proper rear light on it.

That said if I was trying to sell a bike that is listed as being so clean and tidy I would've made it look clean and tidy. 10 minutes with a decent polish and that paint would shine instead of having paint that looks as flat as a 10 years old tits.

I'm not a fan of the K3/4 shape so I'm really only looking for K1/2 Iv seen every single 1 on gumtree eBay pistonheads searched loads of main agents used bikes etc literally been looking for ages and bar about 3 on eBay I wouldn't be happy with any others.

Basically I want a Less than 20k miles without a load of bolt on tat, a can and screen etc would be alright. I don't want any damaged ones and out of that Iv found about 3.

Didn't realise it would be such slim pickings but I accept the fact my checklist is a deciding factor, but it's taken me long enough to get the money for the bike I want and not just going to buy the first bike I see.

I'm surprised you prefer the k1/2 shape and looks to the k3/4....

I might be biased as I had a zk4 but they are IMHO much better looking and much better overall than the previous k1/2.

I always say buy the newer and best that you can afford but if you really want a k1/2 thou then you'll get a minted one for 3k.

I paid 3k for my zk4 which did have higher miles but it was fully serviced and came with top notch mods which included a k5 swingarm,k7 slipper clutch,320mm brake disc upgrade etc etc.

" hi mate see your bike on gumtree ive only got 3k for your 4k bike cash paid today!"
Lol sometimes it works or just go wave the cash in their face happened to me i sold the bike £500 cheaper just because he had the cash in my face.

I think if a Low Miles K3/4 came up locally I'd go and look at it see of I like it in the flesh but Iv never really paid much attention to them and from pictures I don't see the attraction.

In 2007, I paid £2750 for a mint K2 with I think.... 8k on the clocks. God, they are not worth what they are going for now. They are great bikes. Particularly the K2 (which doesn't have the crap mild steel downpipes). But £3k is K4 money and they are a better bike in my book. I've owned 2 K1's, 1 K1 & 1 K4 and the K4 wins in all respects.

For £3k, you could probably get this one...:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GSXR-1000-K4-LTD-EDITION-/261460067330?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3ce03c0402

I got mine previously... last year... for £3200 with 7k on the clocks. But it wouldn't budge for any more than the £2800 I sold it for in the end.
