Yo, looking for an aftermarket can for my CBR. So far the only road legal one I have found is a Scorpion that has a removable baffle. Do any of you know another manufacturer that makes these or have bought one themselves? Only stipulation is that it has to be road legal (e-marked), cheers in advance!

Art do road legal ones now - www.artexhausts.com

I had one on my CBR, though not a road legal one, and it sounded lovely.

Does a road legal can have to have an E mark anymore?

NO. Emark is irrelevant from what I hear. For MOT the can is supposed to be on a par with the standard can and not marked "not for road use". This is going to be down to the tester.

However, travel to Europe with a non E marked can and its a bust.

I can see this being a big grey area for the police too.

To be road legal ,yes, but that deoes not mean MOT legal. All very strange.

All the best

I agree. If the powers that be are not sure of what is and is not legal what chance do we stand.

Or maybe its a ploy and a clever trick. Make it impossible for bikers to know if they are legal or not then they will stick with standard cans.

YEA. course we will

The cbr is my first big bike. Its treated me fairly well since I got it. First time out i spun it up in the wet but it still felt pretty settled. Since then Ive been through all sorts of tight squeezes (right hander at 130 on the clock on a popular dual carriageway with the front end getting 'a bit twitchy') and I have to say I love its forgiveness. It doesnt seem to have a 'spit you off as soon as look at you' feel I was expecting from tripling my horsepower and for now, i like that. It goes when you want it to, but im waiting for some braided hoses before I pass judgement on the stoppers!

Only problem its given me (or ive given it really) is losing the key, and because of the honda HISS immobiliser I had to change the CDI which cost me an arm and a leg!

On the whole I like it, its an excellent stepping stone, its user friendly, its quick (without being mental), power builds gradually instead of arriving too quick and leaving early and the ride is comfy enough for my small frame.

All i want now is to set up the suspension a bit more for my weight so i dont get as much pogo @arse and get a zorst and i'll be happy!

Whats your thinking on it goblin?

so second question anyone got some default sttings for a CBR600 2000W for an eleven stone bloke no me neither! Wink

Thumbs Up

Hi Villers,

Much the same as yourself its my first 600,
Like you say they do seem forgiving although only had
mine for a few weeks and have not really pushed it yet.
Bad luck on the key what a pain, i had the indicator relay
bugger up but luckly still under warranty.
So far love the bike and hate getting off. Thumbs Up

Got them in a magazine at home. Standard settings are quite soft though, that's what makes it reasonably forgiving of nasty road surfaces and the like.

I had a Micron road legal can on my blade and it sounded quite good.

Think it was around £160.

Got it from Demon Tweeks.

Plenty places will set it up for you, though I'd venture that 11 stone is probably about the mean that bikes are set up for anyway.

I'm going to get mine set up for the track next year (100% have suspension specialists at some trackdays) and see how much of a difference it makes.

The single exit Blueflame titanium cans look really nice and are really good VFM in my opinion. The baffle is held in position by a Circlip thats easy to remove/replace. They also look very nice in coloured titanium depending on the colourscheme of your bike. Think they are about £260 ish. I wnted a Blueflame can at the NEC, but i never saw the stand, until i was on my way out, and it was too late then, as i had been offered an excellent deal on an Akrapovic titanium can by this time, even though it was £50 more expensive. Oh well!
