Soooooo chaps, got some SM wheels for my DRZ. The front has a disk, happy days. The rear has a disk too, more joy. Whether those disks fit into the callipers currently on my bike, I’m yet to see.

Unfortunately there is no rear sprocket. Where do I get a sprocket from? Will it need to be exactly the same as the one on my knobbly wheel? Or how much of a job will it be to swap the sprockets over each time the wheels get changed?

Many thanks.

Tbh I've not had a lot of mechanical experience, expecially with bikes, but I reasearched by bike specs online and posted on these forums to track down a machable sprocket, bought it and waited for it to arrive, when it did me and a friends with no mechanical skill at all changed the rear sprocket, took a few hours and had to lift the bike onto a strong table to get access, you could try watch youtube to help

If you want to use a different gearing then you'll need a different size sprocket & I'd advise having two chains too.

How different is the profile of the nobblies and the SM wheels?

What are the wheels from?

Is the Sprocket PCD and Hole pitches the same?

Did it come with the sprocket carrier?

What he is, is consistent. When selling me a bike he said, "I've not got it MOTd because I'm a bit of a dick like that".

And to be honest your posts didn't help Thumbs Up

What hubs are they?

Standard DRZ SM hubs, DRZ SM sprocket, Talon hubs (usual suspect) speak with Talon direct, they sent me a 47 tooth when my stock was 41, they said it was a stupid idea, it was. Laughing

Most things I'd speak direct to manufacturer as they usually give the most accurate info Thumbs Up

Look like standard hubs to me.Talon hubs are CNC machined from billet and serial numbered

Best thing may well be to install the wheels and, using a straight edge, see how much offset there is - if anything.Talon may well be able to machine a special front and/or front sprocket so that A)The offset is correct and B)There is sufficient clearance between the chain and the edge of the tyre.
As those hubs look OEM and may well be DRZ-S or E,there is no cush drive. So make sure that there is sufficient slack in the chain or the gearbox output shaft bearing can be ruined very quickly.I adjust the slack on my XR-SM by compressing the suspension and allowing about 25mm.

/\ Very useful, thanks. Took a while to get the chain tension right with weight on but got there in the end.

Tried leaving the bigger discs on, not a chance. Need an adapter plate for the calliper I imagine?

Same story with the rear disc, but it was much closer. 24cm Vs 22cm, so still had to switch them. Those allen bolts are a tad tight Laughing

Did a straight swap with the sprocket, I'll just have to see what the gearing's like when I take it out.
