I sold some unused/boxed headphones in April, auction ended 24th April (Buy it Now) and they were delivered/signed for on 29th April. I received a message today (June 2nd) saying:
Quote:
The headphones you sent don't work properly- they only work out of one ear

No case has been raised and they haven't actually asked me to do anything - it strikes me as odd that it's taken 4 weeks & 6 days to realise that one ear wasn't working - they've missed the 30 day eBay deadline so [I believe] they can't raise a case, are PayPal likely to side with them though?
If they'd let me know there was a problem straight away then I would've gladly taken them back, but it feels like they've busted them and now want their money back, so I'll end up with some busted headphones and down on eBay fees/postage.
Any advice? Should I reply and say "No" or just ignore them?

(I'm a private seller, not a business)

If they're unused and boxed, forward them to the receipt, and suggest they claim on the manufacturers warranty.

They weren't new, they were just unused/boxed. They've been in a cupboard for about 2 years - it's not even a current model.

I'd go with that until and unless a case is successfully raised.

Bads news: it used to be 45 days for a buyer to raise a PayPal dispute but a few months ago they changed it to 180 days. Ignoring e-mails from the buyer won't help your case. I'd be asking questions about how they've used the headphones from the 29th of April til today when they've contacted you and then take it from there.

The PayPal website still says 45 days for eBay transactions, the 180 days kicks in mid-June by the looks of it.
