Ybr dipped headlight

I've been searching this and not getting any clear possibilities. I have an 2005 ybr and recently had some starter issues. Turned out to be water in the connections due to all weather use. So pulled all the connections apart cleanned them and taped them up. While doing this a replaced the headlight bulb as it was utter crap
I used the same "round" shape bulb as was fitted standard. Was a little brighter but soon after the dipped bulb went. Soon after that the full beam goes. So replaced it with the cylinder type bulb from halfords. Even brighter light this time with a nice clear colour. But a week has passed and the dipped beam is gone, still have the full beam at this time. Just wanted to know if anyone has had the same problem or has came across it. Sorry for the long post but detail hopefully with help narrow it down. Cheers for any help on this

What is your bulb type? Does the replacement you got have a dual filament? Is one filament broken? Could be a bad voltage reg if they keep blowing.

Its a 35/35w 12v dual filament bulb it was the one recommended by most people as a decent upgrade. As I cant use h4 fittment type bulbs. I am starting to think it is the voltage reg myself. Given the fact the dipped goes first as it runs constant. The bike most know I going for the license playing up a lot at the minute.

If you can find a cheap replacement regulator, I'd try that first

Yea going to look for a cheap one, if anyone knows of a site or place please shout. Already spent more than I wanted to so far keeping it straight.
