Hay guys,

I've got a question regarding a set of pipes for my bike.

Now last month i found a Moto Guzzi 98 California EV 1100 in near immaculate condition, I jumped into getting it and traveled up to perth - scotland from the midlands to get her and rode her back and i can honestly say i absolutely love her.

My only qualm with it, is... She sounds stunning but she just doesn't have that "classic harley-esk burble" Putting revs on she sounds like an angry lion but once you've evened up to speed she looses it and apart from the slab V-twin by my knee's she virtually silent.

So yeah, a long story short I've decided new cans are a must however... I know pretty much nothing about them, or in particular the differences between names/styles ect.

I'm looking for something between 20"-24" ideally and there seems to be an abundance of choice. I'm limited in budget to a set for about £120 max - which seems to me as reasonable, eBay/amazon/alot of websites have single "universal" pipes for around 40-50each

But more importantly what are the differences? I'm after a pair of cone ended Marconi look-a-likes ideally. or a pair of out-facing slash-cuts.

Some i see are advertised as "Silencer's" others as "Slash-cuts" some as "Megaphone" or "Mufflers" also some slash-cuts seem to carry the term "EXUTURN" in the title, which i'm assuming is just the term used for outward facing ends?

I'm not looking to cut/drill into my stock cans either.

But yeah, sorry for wasting your time but long waffling story short, what would you recommend that would give my Guzzi a good burble, like a classic harley?

Thanks guys, any help would be greatly apricciated.
- Chris

i had a pair of "universal reverse shortys" on my vf1000
they sounded epic, the good thing about (apart from the price) them was there was various sized gaskets for fit most pipe sizes,

they arn't the best made things compared to named brands, but can't beat them for the price,

just get something you like the look of

I've got a pair of these on my 250 https://www.classicbikeshop.co.uk/silencers/universal-custom/turnout-cruisers-36mm-44mm-19-inch.html . They have a fixed baffle but it's so small I think it's just there so if plod shine a torch down it appears baffled. Pretty loud on my little tiddler so on your bike should sound good.

They have other styles too https://www.classicbikeshop.co.uk/silencers/universal-custom.html

These cheap pipes use cheap chrome though so you have to keep on top of cleaning or they rust quickly.

Slashcut/turnout/megaphone/fishtail/tulip/etc you can see the differences in the website I linked.

yeah basically all the universal cans are the same,
mine had replaceable catridge baffle, although you can't buy the cartridge, and the cans were so cheap that you'd just replace them if they were ever buggered, i did 3 years and they were still in awesome condition when i sold the bike
