Hi,

After having a sit and a play around with the BMW R nine T at the MCN show i'd really like to have a look at something similar just preferably not a new bike.

What bikes had similar styling / characters?

I like the BMW R850 R which i know is not the same but it has the boxer and i think it has a similar styling.

Any ideas would be great.

What a retarded name, don't buy one on principle.

How about the Moto Guzzi V1200, Griso or Breva?

Looking at the R90 ( Middle Finger BMW Middle Finger ) it looks plagiarised and similarly lardy.

Yamaha MT01?

I had a sit on the BMW yesterday. It reminded me of the MT-09 and the street triple. Looks good but its expensive and I thought the welding on the frame looked poor. I did like it generally but a decent second hand street triple or speed would be a better buy.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Ducati sport classic. Will cost as much as/more than an R Nine T though.

You could have a look at the old Honda CX 500. Not a boxer twin like the BMW, but has a longitudinal v twin (some unenlightened folk may even mistake it for a Guzzi if it didn't have "Honda" slapped on it), so still a bit different and is affordable by common peasants such as ourselves.

I also agree about the horrific naming on the BMW. Would literally not buy the bike just because of that... Plus it's stupidly expensive for what it is really.

What else about the BMW do you really like OP, or is it really just the look of the boxer lump?:

Personally, the only thing that appeals to me visually, is the spoked wheels, and even they are spoiled by yet another hideously unnecessary 2-1-2 OEM pipe.

Get a L/V twin OP Thumbs Up. Forget about ye ole boxer

It's not a hideous MC, but I would much prefer one of the new Ducati Monster's TBH.

If you like the r nine t the older r1100, r1150/rockster and r1200r are pretty much the same thing.
