Am a bit confused here in relation to removing the SET valve as I find conflicting info across t'interweb. Can someone who knows about these things confirm some things for me.

1.)Why is it really there? Is it emissions trickery or genuine perfomance inhancement.

2.)Have you removed yours and def noticed a difference? Was it good or bad?

3.) Are there any draw backs to removing it?

4.) Is it a case of removing the gubbins and then cutting wire thirty on the black ecu multiplug?

5.) How do I ensure the valve is in the fully open position before starting the removal process. End can is properly rusted on and if that needs removing first in order to see valve being open then cant do job this evening so hoping there is another method in order to know SET valve is fully open before disconnecting.

Any help from anyone with knowledge on this massively appreciated as I say, I keep finding conflicting info on all of it on the internet.

Cheers Ben.

1. emissions
2. yes, louder.
3. no drawbacks.
4 unclip the cables, remove the whole servo unit, DO NOT CUT PIN 30, simply unclip it using a paperclip and secure out of the way.
5. butterfly valves are spring loaded, start your bike, turn it and you'll hear the exhaust note change when it springs back.

Saves you a lot of problems in the future as the GSXR's are plagued with sticky SET valves that throw up FI lights on the dash.

Is a 2007 gixxer really that badly rusted that you can't pop the can off?

I've heard the poor quality reputation but took it largely with a pinch of salt so far!
