It is stolen and for the saving you made buying this engine you will have to pay back as much if not more to get it rebuilt as a legit enginge would have cost. Not good to buy anything without paperwork because some poor sod has lost his bike, at the very least it is legit and knackered.
Good luck. |

You would probably be looking at at least 10 hours labour.
So at say a conservative £30 per hour, that's £300.
Then add VAT.
And hope they do it right .
Probably cheaper and less hassle just to use that or find another second hand engine that works. Maybe then try and fix it yourself as an 'exercise'... if it goes wrong you can sell the bits left over, if it works you sell it as one and re-coup your money. |

This BCF stripdown idea may not be such a bad one!

If the only damage is the broken sprocket cover lugs then pull the motor and haul it down to a local professional welding outfit (that can TIG weld aluminium) Make sure you tell them in advance that its a thin wall casting. Ask them to weld up the lugs into blobs of ally. File back the tops flush with the sprocket housing, drill and tap new bolt holes. The welding shouldn`t cost more than £50.00 and even if you have to buy a tap and die kit to re do the holes the total bill should be under £100.
Otherwise just install the new motor and see what happens, if its ok then run with it, if it isn`t you can still build up a motor out of the two you have. You would need a top end gasket set (best part of £100.00) plus an oil and filter change. Do you have the tools needed for major engine work & are you interested in doing it? if you don`t have the tools that would add £150-200 but you would have the tools for life. ____________________ Trust me, I`m an engineer
