https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-56-SUBARU-IMPREZA-2-0-R-SPORTS-HATCH-AWD-ESTATE-/151421082197?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2341665a55

It's a dealer, so by definition it *can't* be okay. But still - I ask - is this price about right?

I think it's a little high but not outrageously so. You could probably find one with under 60,000 miles for less than £4,000 if you look though.

A question..

Why buy the non-turbo when you're still going to pay through the arse for insurance and the turbos are no less reliable and not really any more fuel-guzzling?

A suggestion..

Make sure it's up to date with its service history. The cam belt change is due at 5 years/60,000 miles (whichever's soonest) so it should have had one by now. It's quite a pricey job so make sure it's been done and be aware it'll potentially be due another in under 2 years.

In fact; if you can negotiate in a cambelt change at the windscreen price it'd be a good deal.

Yeah no turbo. Hmmph. Would prefer with, but not a deal breaker. I think the one owner, low miles off-sets the lower spec. Anyway - cheers for that. Food for thought there. Karma

I wouldnt really buy one without the turbo as they really are not that good at anything without them. Underpowered and juicy to run and the AWD is great for reigning in the power but just a drag without and not all that effective anyway.

To quote source, I own a Legacy B4RSK, a friend has had a highly modded wrc, another one a standard WRC and another one a non turbo and it was rubbish Mr. Green

Why does it say 3989 in the mileage then 81200 in the description?

I agree on most of your points but the AWD is actually quite effective on the Imprezas, it's the wheel size and road oriented tyres that let it down. I've had an Impreza and an S-Turbo Forester (which runs on the same chassis and running gear) and the Forester was unstoppable through snow, ice and mud. The ground clearance is a little low for real off-road shenanigans but the drive system was epic. The Impreza was less sure-footed in slippery conditions, due to the Vredestein almost-slick tyres I fitted, but with chunky winter tyres on something less than 18" wheels it would have been equally capable.

Most likely true but I never got to try it offroad, just the snow on summer tyres. It was surprisingly capable at launching but terrifying trying to stop like any other car, was a hoot tbh Laughing

Non turbos still drink fuel, but they are *glacially* slow.
