need to get myself an insert and was planning on getting a clear one, but what with the time of year and the sun being quite low in the mornings and after those rainy nights, thought maybe one that would take the glare out of ones eyes would be a prudent choice....

so, i was thinking of a lightly tinted one - but these look to be limited to daytime use only.
is that the case for all tinted?
what about yellow/orange tints/filters? are these restricted just the same and are they effective at taking the glare off the shiney roads?

not looking to do a lot of night riding, however, i do a few trips in the dark a month, and would be nice not to need a second insert - especially as the early darks are creeping in fast...

what do you lot do about it?

When I use open face lids I ride with yellow tint glasses and they remove glare from lights well and don't compromise visibility.

They do a photosensitive (?) pinlock I think though that tints in light and goes clear in dark, maybe you want that?

They react to UV light.

Some motorcycle visors block UV light, I know my Shoei CRW-1 visor blocks 99% of UV.

Essentially with no UV light passing through, the pinlock would think it was "dark" and remain clear. Probably.

Worth considering.

Pinlock inserts are extremaly expensive IMO.

I bought new helmet with intergated sun visor. I mean good pinlock insert is £20. Perfectly fine helmet is 2-3 times more. You do the math - shall you buy 2x3 inches piece of plastic or the whole helmet Smile

There are good helmets cheap helmets with sun visor like Nitro £50 and MT £80, Caberg Vox £80.
