Ok guys I have really taken the plunge into bikes now by selling my Audi A6 yesterday, so were going to buy the missus a cheap run about to potter around in.

As I have been driving a car for over 25 years now my simple question is can I use the NCB I have accumulated over the years to insure my bike with or is that a no no ???

Some will but most won't allow transfer of NCB.

'It Depends'. Some insurers will consider it, others will not. Time to ring-around.

Some will take it into account of a "I've been using the roads without incident for this many years" but they won't credit your bike policy with it.

so this time next year you'll be looking at 1 years NCB on bikes, to keep your NCB current for the car incase you need it you can alternate with your mrs with yourself as the policy holder, then a year later put her as policy holder.

since it's your only car it's not usually an issue that you're not the main driver - this is what we're currently doing with Direct line

Stan,

You're not unlike me in this respect. I sold my Mercedes E Class Coupe and bought my Bonneville a few weeks back.

I too had zero no claims having been off a bike for over two years and, using Admiral, got my Bonnie insured fully comp for less than £100.

Now I'm 52 years old and the Bonnie is not really the choice ride of boy racers. However it might be worth giving Admiral a shot.

Oh and I've never known a company to take a car NCB into account.

Good luck in your hunt for reasonably priced cover.
