I decided to go to Wales at 8am on the 10th September, largely based on the weather forecast which looked very good. It was! I stayed one night at https://www.lionhotel-llanbister.co.uk/

Well recommended as they are biker-friendly but they are also on the A483. Bonus! I managed over 630 miles including my ride from Surrey. I have fallen in love with Wales, the scenery and the roads. I can't believe I have neglected it for so long. I'm already thinking of a longer trip there. Here's the pics I took, there would have been more but I was busy enjoying the roads.

Nice! This is something I'll be doing from next year now I have a proper bike.

What type of camera did you use? I have a DSLR but I'm not sure if it's the best idea to take it on bike trips

I didn't go to Wales for years when I was younger, cos everyone said "oh, it's always raining in Wales!" Now I go there every opportunity I get, and not got wet many times. No better place to be on a bike when the sun is shining! Very Happy

I'm going tomorrow. Riding to Bristol tonight to meet a mate then Saturday morning zigzagging over the Brecons to the coast and down to Tenby area.
Overnight stay then Sunday, up the coast, past Devils Bridge, through Elan Valley, down to Ross On Wye then home.

No doubt I'll post in on here like it was an epic South American adventure. 😀

Totally agree. I last rode there in 1991 and it was very wet. I'm kicking myself for not going back for so long. Fantastic place to ride.

I'm 30 minutes from Wales - which is probably why I notch up over 10,000 miles a year. Smile

Great pics thanks for posting. Mrs and I went last year rode up through the Welsh marches over the Horseshoe Pass, had a cheap deal on a mobile home just outside of Rhyl for a base while we day tripped around Snowdonia, then rode down the A 483 and through the Breacon Beacons. The roads and scenery were awsesome.

Totally agree - Wales is great for a quick break (I'm in Surrey as well).

I can also recommend the Welsh National Rally in May and the Round Britain Rally (google them) - both of these force you to go off the beaten track and you'll find some even
better roads you didn't know existed Wink
