I may have the scrotes on film.

I saw three youths on push bikes scoping the bike bay I was in.

Just wondering.

Be vigilant in that area, I've had one stolen from there and a BMW 1200 was lifted recently.

Did they bring a forklift?

Sad times.

Jimmy Tan and his monkeys again?

He's out and straight back at it again.

Allegedly.

But not really.

You have to wonder at the mentality of idiots who would risk injury for the sake of a well-insured mega-jeweller. Mob-mentality at its best. Laughing

I would...and have, albeit not a jeweller. A couple of years ago I saw a scum bag nick a phone off a young girl and as he ran towards me I shoved him hard into a wall. He swung at me, just grazing my face so I took him down - hard. I held him, police were called, came quickly and carted him off. I gave a witness statement and later heard he had to go to hospital to get a couple of cracked ribs and 'abrasions' treated.

I have had cars, bikes, computers etc. stolen and it makes my blood boil that there are people out there who think it's OK to steal from others. If I saw a guy in a Rolls Royce being mugged, or a robbery I'd go and help them - it's the principle & at stake, if no-one does anything, these scum will think they can get away with it.

Helping a young mugging victim is quite a bit different than preventing the insured losses of stone selling faceless millionaires.

And if your bike gets nicked by some pikey, that's fine because it's insured, is it?

You realise that Tan was (and apparently is again) able to carry out an extended spree of bike thefts because, eh, it's all just "insured losses", it's not real crime. He only got stopped when literally caught in the act of committing a violent crime.

And how do you think the staff in the shop felt about being the retail face of those faceless millionaires? Just laughed it off, did they?

I'm glad those good citizens didn't just shrug and say "Not my problem". It put the vicious scrote away for a few years at least. It's just a shame that he's out again and apparently picking up right where he left off.

Pretty sure I saw one of them yesterday that was stolen. Was on European plates.

If you have the footage, upload it to YouTube. Very Happy

Are they just taking top-end litre sports bikes or is everything getting taken? I have to do some parking near there soon - would they bother with an 8 year old 650?

Slap a BCF or NobCat sticker on it and no-one will touch it.

They use bikes to steal other bikes. Chances are they won't nick an older bike to strip / to order. But it all depends. If its been thrown down the road and looks in bad shape, I doubt they'll touch it for parts, just joyriders. Bring locks whatever the bike, make it more hassle for them is the only thing you can do. Thumbs Up

Looks like anything newish and worth a few bob is targeted.

I actually made a mistake - it's 74 bikes stolen in the last month and a bit. Workmate spoke to the police when he reported his bike stolen and they are aware of the recent crimewave..

I may be being cynical here but down in that London if it was a pushbike crimewave with Boris on their backs would the police be all over it like a std rash?

Or do they treat everyone the same? Very Happy

They appear to be aware of exactly who's behind it as well.

Anecdote, not personal knowledge.

Somebody's insured bike is not the same as some corporation's insured jewellery.

And most retail front-end staff would dine out on such an experience. Traumatisation is vastly over-estimated (where no physical violence has been suffered).

I'm not defending the sub-human rat under debate I should point out. I'd clip him out of hand given the right circumstances (total immunity from legal consequences). But meh, nobody's a hero for stepping in for high-end jewellers, they're utter mugs.

Kudos for taking down a mugger though. Thumbs Up

Would the same apply for people who stepped in to deter the looters that went knocking off shops in the days of rioting then?

Is this going to be another thread about how the line is conveniently drawn just above the point at which you feel represents 'too wealthy' and those above it deserve everything they get?

House of Reeves in Croydon had a pretty nifty turnover figure but were a family business. Which side of the line do they sit out of interest?

Bike thieves are going mental recently, someone tried to pick up my Bandit into a van 3 days ago until the alarm went off, they whizzed away in their van and I ran out...

I got the plate of the little shit that was scouting for them on a little red scooter a few hours earlier, probably stolen too, the police have been informed.

EDIT: In the SE area of London.

This may have reached the point where a news rag might take an interest, for the CRIME WAVE! POLICE HELPLESS! headlines.

I can't think what else will get Dibble out of the cop shop. Let clicky-typey, more collar-coshy.
