Well after 37 yrs and 11 months I finally did it, and l loved it, was nervous at first, even stalling it but once out on the road, it felt brilliant to be on a bike, quite natural really. Looking forward to getting my bike on the road even more now im legal and have a bit confidence. Got to remember to cancel thise bloody indicators, lol.
Carl and Julian at biketrain wales are a pr of complete diamonds, good laugh and very good teachers. Will be definitely going to them to teach me for my mod 1&2

bravo, those indicators are annoying, but keep reminding yourself and it does soon become a more subconcious action after a while (its taken me about a year but my indicators stopped working for a while and i didnt bother doing anything about it for aaaaaaaaages which perpeutated the situation).....

I always double the indicators, meaning that I cancel them after I need to and then again a few seconds after. I do occasionally tap them from time to time just to make sure they are cancelled.

It winds me up when I see bikes with indicators on then they don't turn. It could quite easily be a death for such a simple mistake that is easily avoided.

If you think you've cancelled them, you need to check, and if you think you've checked that you've cancelled them you will need to check that also, and if you think...... Well you get the message!

In b4 you can't pass it because it's not a test.

Just a heads up with regards to indicators. DVSA Derick on your mod 2 speaks in your ear that you have your indicators on you have just failed mod 2.

So, get into the habit, when you change gear from a low one, should it be first to second, second to third, press the button. Pull away from the lights, press the button. Get into the habit of doing the pressy button thing. I've been known, and my bosses have said the same thing, bored on the motorway? Theres a button there to press, that'll occupy a second or so.

Works too. I dont remember the last time I left mine on.

Pretend the cancel button is a special phaser weapon that fires ace little missiles at annoying road users, and also can emit a beam that makes ladies take their clothes off, children drop their ice creams, coppers to snog old women, and wild birds to implode. That way you'll be pressing it all the time, and riding along giggling inside your helmet like a silly little twit, whilst simultaneously avoiding leaving you indicator on.

Works for me anyway - but then, I rule. Thumbs Up

further to the indicator thing - it definitley can lead to an accident (obviously), i've had some near incidences - happened a couple of times just down the road from my flat. hadn't cancelled the right indicator - oblivious to it and a car pulls out so i lay on the horn and shake my head.....
then realise a bit further down the road that my indicator's still on...

Doh!

could have been worse.
i'm now one of the 'cancel it - check its been cancelled - then check its been cancelled' type.

As others have already said, cancelling your indicators all the time could save you having a bad crash. I've got into the habit and don't realise I'm doing even. I even cancelled my indicators on a trackday I did last year Laughing
