hi guys, back again with more problems Evil or Very Mad

If I hit a bump on my moped (50cc sym jet 50 basix 2 stroke) the bike will die, like fuel starvation. but if I turn it off & back on it's fine Confused

It's not a major problem, just something that is really annoying!

I'm just waiting for it to do it again, but not fix it's self once restarted, like a ticking time bomb.

I've already tried cleaning the carb & it's spotless! Spark plug is fine.

And the petrol tank is full!

I'm out of idea's.

Any help would be great.

Sounds more like electrical. Battery connections nice and tight?

yes the battery is tight, I've had a look at the rest of the wiring too, can't see anything that looks remotely loose...

I'd go with electrical. I had similar symptoms when I fitted an aftermarket CDI that I mounted in exactly the right place to be pressed by the seat. Hit a bump, seat pressed on connector, engine cuts out. Get off the bike, everything runs fine. Did my nut in trying to figure it out. Brick Wall

does the stand have a cut out switch. I was just thinking going over bumps may cause the stand to flap about causing a cut out?

Sorry im new to biking myself if thats a dumb reply.

on the carb, ive got 2 wire, ones a slide over clip, the other just clamps onto a ball connector, if that makes ANY sense. I could it be any of those? like a bad connection?

& I don't have a cut out switch in the stand, the bike doesn't literally cut out. the power just dies, so long as I don't rev the engine, it will still run. I have to restart the bike to go anywhere on it.

I believe I am right in saying that your bike has an auto-choke, which is a solenoid running to the carb. That's the 2 wires you'll see.

It is possible that something is shorting, causing the choke to open and bog the engine down.

Can you disconnect said cable from the loom? It may be hard to start when cold, that's the only issue.

Thumbs Up
