I have recently split the crankcase and the gaskets for my husqvarna 125 are quite expensive. do you think it really matters if i use gasket seal instead?

Hi

Unless designed for it I wouldn't. For a start the gasket is a certain thickness; miss it out and the crankcase halves are that much closer together.

All the best

definatel matters.
instant gasket has its uses but buy gasket paper + make your own if they are the paper type.
cereal packets also make good gaskets, certainly better than some of the gunk i've seen used.
crank case gaskets are a bit fiddly though... buy 1 + trace onto gasket paper?
cheers,
GAZ

As Kickstart pointed out, you'll need to know the thickness of the original gasket and have the same thickness paper if you want to make your own. Using the wrong thickness paper could affect the crankshaft end float.
