Hi

Snapped the bastard mirror off my van, it's hanging on though. Looks like similar happened to the passenger side and quite a tidy job has been done bodging it back together. Any idea what may have been used? It's like very hard rubber.

Cheers

Probably either Araldite or rubber cement.

Building mastik silicon etc, Solvent free versions of gripfill pink grip etc would do it, then just color it black with a permanent pen.

For extra points use tie wraps and earn your self a badge

I'd be tempted to give Sugru a try.

Self tapping screw from the bottom up

You won't even see that it's a bodge.

Tape all over shit looks horrible ... Right?

If you can get something up the hole to add structural support, and then araldite.

Someone smashed the mirror off my MX5 a couple of years ago. I found one of those chipstick things you get with a bottle of turtle wax fitted perfectly in the hole (to carry the load) and araldited the mirror back on.

The replacement has been in a box in my garage for 18 months, that's how well it has held.

Thanks guys.

Think I'll put something in and glue/rubber it in, see what I can find.

Tape/cable ties won't work, it's not like a car mirror.

Sugru looks awesome.

Sam - tried to fold it in for the first ever time as I'd parked on a really narrow road. Ended up shearing the bloody thing off Rolling Eyes Laughing
