Hi all,
Maybe a silly question so apologies in advance, but a friend of mine has just aquired some sort of dirt/trailie looking Type of bike.

Dunno any further details yet, except, im presuming it has 18/21 knobbly tyres on it & it will be cbt compliant.

I have commuted on a trailie before & found knobblies downright lethal in certain situations/conditions.
so, short of doing a full on sm conversion to 17" wheels what are the alternatives?
As in silly size tyres but more suited for roads.

only off road action this bike will ever see is odd gravel track.

suggestions?

cheers,
GAZ

Fit road tyres, they are available in off road sizes.

Pirelli do some nice Enduro tyres, so if he were to greenlane, he won't be at a -complete- disadvantage.

I have the MT60 on my XR, which is the tyre that comes as standard.

There are also MT43s which are supposedly decent for on/offroad use though designed as a trials tyre.

I can vouch for the MT60, hasn't let me down on Wiltshire Byways, nor on the road in the soaking wet.

https://www.pirelli.com/tyre/gb/en/motorcycle/sheet/mt_60.html?url=%3Fsubtype%3Doff-road

I read some forum post somewhere that says the MT60s aren't all that great for pure greenlaning, but if he's not doing solely that, np. I commute without an issue on them and most importantly, there are no obvious signs of being at a wear disadvantage compared to a normal road tyre.

So, for the odd gravel track, the MT60 will work a treat. Thumbs Up
