Hi there guys well.. I have had my Honda MSX 125 for just under 6 months! I was experiencing a bad rattling so i took it into honda dealer To get it sorted. So okay 2 days after taking it in i had no news from them so i had to go in and find out for them to tell me that it was the big end bearing so i said okay and left as they said they out a warranty claim in for that.. 3 days later no word so i went in yet AGAIN! They said its not good news the top end is ruined i said okay they took me into the work shop and shown me the damage of the piston and the bore.. They said its been caused by someone doing it deliberately. I said no it cant be due to the fact it has a full service history so i did someone shouting as they were refusing to do this on warranty!!!. Anyway something popped into my head HOW DID THEY NOT NOTICE THIS WHEN THEY STRIPPED THE BOTTOM END!! surely when stripping bottom end you have to take top end off Sounds very fishy to me .. Anyway they said they can turn it around in 3 days get it all repaired so i said go ahead and here we are 3 weeks later! And now they are saying the piston rings are going to take 3 MONTHS TO ARRIVE!!
Where do i stand with this guys some help and advice would be much help.. Should i go trading standards! |

Rogue Honda dealers treating 125 owners like dirt is hardly "news".
Of course you should be on to trading standards. That's what they're there for. And get everything written down now; the history of the bike, when you took it in, what was said. Use short sentences and paragraphs.
First, your claim is against the dealer, not Honda UK. However, Honda UK have deeper pockets, so get on to them as well.
Second, it's to your benefit to establish what a reasonable time for repair is. So get on to another garage or dealer and ask them how much and how soon. If you don't like the answer, keep asking elsewhere. If everyone says "3 months" then that's how long it takes.
If you get a better answer, then get back to the dealer and tell them when they need to have it done by. Do this in writing. Tell them how much they'll be paying to have it done elsewhere if they fail to complete the repairs.
If they call your bluff, then your options are to cave in or escalate. Escalation means actually taking it elsewhere, paying your own money to have it sorted, and then invoicing the dealer for the full retail cost of the repair, plus any expenses that you've racked up and which you can document. You then start down the long route to a court claim.
I'ma stop typing now, because it's unlikely that you'll do any of this, right? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
