Yesterday, my lad used the auxiliary socket on the CBF to power the tyre blower up thingy to put some air in the tyres for me and forgot to turn the ignition off, so that when I went to start it later, it had no battery at all, not even a flicker on the clocks.

In a fit of not even thinking, I tried to bump start it, which it di, but it ran like a bitch, missing and general farting its way about for a minute or so, with no clocks, no lights, nuffin.

Out with the charger and over night got a nice fill up of electricity to the point where she started fine this morning and ran perfectly on the way to work.

Question is two fold.

Firstly, when she was running like a dog last night, if I put the headlights on full beam, she seemed to run better, with less missing and seemed as though could be almost rideable, but with the lights on normal running (dip), sounded like a bag of spanners, don't understand this.

Secondly and more importantly, am I likely to have done any damage by bumping her from dead and running as mentioned above for a minute or so? I know some newer engines do not like bump starts and the manuals recommend that you not do it.

Cheers
Mike
BTW, Check out Random Banter, Lovely recipe for Banana Bread there Smile

The same one who was very nearly past metal-on-metal brakes and into piston-on-disc? Thinking

After the random electriconical hijinks on my Citroen after the battery ran low, I've given up trying to understand FI/ECU vehicles beyond "Don't let the battery run low". If it runs now, it runs now, you got away with it. Thumbs Up

Nope different son, I have a selection Smile

Usually keep the battery full, buy it some fresh electricity every so often and have even considered uprating it to race spec electricity, but not really any point for around here Smile

Will think of it as a lucky break and leave it at that and keep an eye on the battery for the next little while, just in case

Cheers

Put a magnet on the earth strap so that all the electrons are aligned and flow more holistically. Thumbs Up
