I'm thinking of getting an impact wrench for home, not sure if it's worth air or those electrics? What do you think?

Personally, I rarely need one as I usually get away with the shock treatment with a hammer and leverage with a 2' length of scaffold pole.

However, a few years ago I was unable to get the crankshaft bolt off a Ford Focus, so I took a chance a bought a 1/2" 12V RAC Impact Wrench Kit 350Nm, after a few goes it managed to loosen the bolt.

The next success was on a Primera driveshaft nut, again it took a number of goes before the nut would budge.

Since then, I've also got many people out of trouble, when they have been unable to undo car wheel nuts that have been over-tightened with air wrenches or just rusted in place.

It cost about £28, not sure how long it will last, but It has been a very useful tool to have in the shed. The only down side is that you have to be able to connect to a nearby car.
