Jeans smell outta the wash

Dear Auntie BCF

I've been having this problem lately with my jeans.
Wash them, take 'em out, dry them... and they reek!
They come out smelling like next door neighbours dog on a wet day or like goats cheese!
Freshly washed, I can't understand it.

Perhaps next doors dog is shaggin them on the washing line coz your b.o. smells like goats cheese .

I've noticed that artificial fibers can cause odours as well as bad washing machine regimes . Try soaking them in hot soapy water for a few hours to kill residual bacteria ( and dogspnk?) But be careful they don't shrink as you could end up with testicular injuries when jumping on your bike.

Leave them sat in the washing machine for ages before you dry them?

Does your washing machine stink? You can normally drain the water out, then find something to run through it to clean it.

Also check the WM outlet hose is routed correctly if it goes into a sink waste outlet. Should loop up quite a bit higher than the point it joins to the sink, otherwise your dirty dishwater will make its way into your WM.

Run the machine on a cold cycle with no clothes but empty a large cupful of white vinegar in the drum for the wash. This will get rid of any stink caused by the machine.

If this doesn't work revisit your personal hygiene habits.

Do an empty 90 degree wash, with or without washing powder.

Then try washing the jeans again.

Letting damp/wet clothes sit in the machine after its finished can make them smell pretty quickly. Say like if you put the washing on in the morning then go to work so they're sat in there until you get home, that'll do it. Delaying the start would be better so the cycle finishes just before you get home rather than several hours earlier.

Change of washing powder may be required too...

The waste pipe often has a low spot and water sat in there soon stinks especially in the warm weather.

Used to have the same problem with my work Polo shirts....... now we use this once a month or so....problem solved.
