Hi All,

I am looking to buy an after market exhaust for my r6 which is road legal and at the same time the loudest it can be .

I have seen some videos on youtube which the bike when reved sounds like an F1 car.

I have seen some cans for £140 on ebay and the brand is F1 .
What are the things I should look for when buying a can ?

many thanks for all advice in advance

Just because it says F1 on it, doesn't mean it'll sound like an F1 car.

It's going to be hard to make an IL4 600 sound like a 3.2(?) litre V6 turbo.

If you want cheap and loud buy sp engineering

Any loud exhaust on an inline 600 is going to sound pretty similar

Nope, just sounds like an open piped R6. Those cans are also not legal in the UK strictly speaking. You'd struggle to get caught unless you upset your neighbours though.

Is how the previous generations of F1 cars sound. It doesn't sound like them to me, and sounds even less like the current generation V6 turbos.

sorry didn't mean to say it sounds exactly the same but meant to say close

the V6 sounds sh*t .

Don't know what year yours is but why not look as something like the Scorpion Carbine. They are short and loud with a removable baffle for extra loudness.

You can listen to it on the interweb page:

last year the engines were 2.4L. They are now 1.6 turbo's with a power output over 600 horses. Shocked

Another vote for SP Engineering, I have these on my Firestorm. Bloomin loud without the baffles but ok to loud with them in. I know its a very different bike but they are really nice quality and reasonable, the large rear outlet let ones look the best to me, if you ring them they can tell you all you need to know.

Also try A16 they will also custom make to your wants.

I am thinking of getting the sp engineering stubby for £160ish

It comes with no baffle so most denefintly it is not road legal , right ? if I get pulled over would i be issued a ticket ?

2nd would it pass mot ?
if not , will it pass it with baffle in or db killer?

3rd would I see any power improvement at all ?

Depends, I ran the CBR with a completely HOLLOW end can, no baffles nothing, the end can was completely empty, it had a fake baffle in the end. It passed several MOT.

Whenever I saw a cop car I merely didn't revv the balls off it which would make it scream.

It might improve performance it may degrade performance.

Never been pulled and all my bikes have been loud, wouldn't ever worry about that to be honest

Mot, it's a grey area, down to the tester, 99% will let it pass it will only fail if they are a jobs worth

Performance won't be noticeable but will feel faster due to the noise Laughing

I was on standard cans, a copper who was doing me for speeding told me to get louder cans as it was "A shame not to hear it" I said ok then you will do me for loud cans his response was "Not in London, and anyway Harleys get away with it".

MOT tester tells me he is deaf anyway Cool

Seriously I have ridden it without the baffles all over the south and midlands and never had a problem.

Hi

For the MOT the exhaust should be as loud as a standard system in reasonable condition in the opinion of the tester. The tester could be deaf and their opinion on this still counts Laughing .

For the road there is a limit for motorcycle exhausts. Further there is a law that makes it an offence to modify the exhaust system to be louder than standard even if still quieter than the limit, but the chances of being done for this are pretty much non existent.

All the best

Keith

1. My SP can came with a removable baffle, it's one allen screw.

2. Mine should pass it's MOT with it at the end of the month, my tester is fine with loud cans (just puts an advisory as being 'loud', just to cover himself)

3. Maybe with a remap, probably not if just bolted on. Perhaps placebo effect though.

I have bought the sp engineering as mentioned before and really pleased with it .

However after putting it on the bike it is making the idle worse than before. now it is moving and staterring between 1.2 to 1.8k where as with the standard exhaust it is between 1.2 to 1.4ish .

I know probably my throttle bodies needs syncing but with the new exhaust it seems worse, any ideas?

You wouldn't want your bike to sound like a 1.6l, turbocharged f1 engine!

powercommander/juicebox/bazzaz and a custom map will sort that out. Or, just change gear and move the revs up.

the guy was saying i should expect between 5-10 hp .

is that true if re mapped with a new exhaust ?

would 5-10 hp in your view be a significant gain ?

so presume the idle going crazy is normal ?
