i have a 2001 yamaha sr125 that stopped running one day sounded as if it wasn't getting fuel so i cleaned the carb but still had the same problem a friend advised me that the regulator rectifier was gone as it wasn't charging. so ive fitted new reg rec but still doing the same problem. anyone else had this problem? or know what it could be... im stumped and dont want to send off to a garage as funds are low as the bike has just had a newish generator fitted as the old one had gone. this bike has caused me nothing but trouble litrally and i'll never get my money back from it.... anyway i can fix it without spending cash the better haha

You say it has the same problem, is this running and then cutting out or is it not starting?

Have you checked you're getting a spark?
Also, have you checked fuel is actually getting through to the carb and from there to the engine?

Edit: How do you know the battery isn't charging? Have you checked with a multimeter?

So it dies as the revs drop? When you start it does it die if you leave it just idling? and what about with choke?
What colour is your spark plug?

Yeah dies if its left to idle can only keep it going if working throttle even if you let go of throttle once it will go off sometimes goes off even whilst working the throttle. Choke is pulled out fully everytime i start it wont start otherwise and spark plug is just a carbony black

Is it dry or wet?

Compare it to this https://ngksparkplugs.com/tech_support/spark_plugs/faqs/faqread.asp
