deep(ish) tank scratches

I'm now starting to repair the 848 ( to eventually sell )
and whilst i am buying alot of bits that need replacing, i'd be interested to read some opinions on how to treat these scratches on the tank, i know the lazy option is to just wack some carbon tank covers over it and be done but i'd like to see if i could possibly repair it.
they feel deeper than they look on the picture aswell

the paint is matte black but it has a deep sort of flicker in it aswell

To do it properly you'd have to respray the whole tank or rather have it done professionally if you wanted it to look like it did new.
You could make them look less obvious by touching in the scratches without literally hiding them - OK for your own use but not ideal when selling, depending on the condition of bike overall.

Common tricks are:

New tank, this stands out though as it isn't as sun bleached as the rest of the bike. A lot of people try to fool others by saying yeah it had a baglux cover on it thats why the paint is brighter. New tanks can be surprisingly cheap.

A tank cover from Baglux £45, except 99% of people will lift it and check the condition and colour of the tank underneath (I went to see a ZX6R with a blue tank on a green bike the other day).


Sneakier tricks are covering the tank in a tank pad/tank grip dots. Again a CBR600RR had suspiciously placed ones, I rubbed my finger nail on them and I could feel an uneven surface below.

An even sneakier trick I saw once was putting the tax disc over it and using a stick on flexible tax holder thingie normally used on the screens. Again somebody like me will feel the disc for imperfections underneath.

Or just own up to it, I always sell my bikes and tell people it is in a battered condition. They usually sell quickly and I price it to suit.

If i could get a 'touch up' bit of paint in a matte black colour thats a close match, and then cover with a set of these?

The rest of the cosmetics will be new as they were damaged from my accident, so it's having new fairings all round.

when selling i will mention it's had a lowside but explain everything that needed replacing was replaced.

If I wanted that bike and it was good otherwise, a superficial scratch or two - carefully painted over to stop corrosion- rather than hidden - would not bother me much.
I almost prefer a few dings then my own dings don't matter so much
