The ''new'' CZ 506, made by Cezeta Motors Ltd. (not the original CZ factory).

Basic model: 9,000eur, 4.8kWh battery, fully programmable 5kW hub motor (the software seems to be included), on board 15Ah charger (fully charged in 4.5hours using 220v), range of 100km per full charge.

If you pay extra, you can get various additional accessories, just scroll down on their page, there's the price list.

Quote:
The Type 506 is an evolution in the development of the Čezeta "car on two wheels". It retains the style of the streamlined bodywork of the original Types 501 and 502, but uses the latest high-power electric motor technology to make it more fun, more practical and more reliable than any Čezeta has ever been before.

Hipsters up and down the country will be torn between wanting one and being unable to claim they had one before they were popular.

They doing the trailers too? The trailers were cool.

EDIT. Apparently yes.

May I suggest napalm? Aerial delivery means less likely to contract te ghey from getting too close.

Tut Tut, just because you're worried about someone having an ACTUALLY utilitarian vehicle to pose with outside the trendy wine bar!

Wink

As far an intown get-around vehicle goes, this makes a lot of sense - plenty of luggae capacity, VERY simple with the hub motor meaning no transmission, I would hope it has loads of underseat storage, as there's not really much else to it.

The style wouldn't be my choice and the price does seem a tad excessive, but compared to that other bike-looking-electric-bike that was being sold cheap, I think this actually makes a lot more sense as far as doing what electric vehicles do well goes.

(I would also note my experiences with leading link front suspension have been bad.)

Oh and ... 4.8kwh of lipo batteries about £1k. 6kw hub motor - £300, 7kw controller - £225. Sturdy used suspension mountain bike £300. Charger £150. Brackets and random bits of plastic to tart it up £200, say.
Better performing, more useful, can be easily carried in to your house (maybe taking battery pack out first) and so on.

Expensive, pointless, redundant? Maybe, but don't forget that there are people that are into 50's design and pointless stuff.

If they used a four stroke engine instead of that electric motor, it'd be cheaper and I'd be interested, as a fan of the CZ bikes.

A bit like what Jawa did with their legendary Pioneer 555 in year 2005 or so. Re-leased the Pioneer with a 4 stroke engine and 4 speed gear box, it was around 1000 pounds. Here's one version of it: (The only thing I do not like about it, is the engine unfortunately. It's a TMEC and some other bits are also from China, but the engine is what really puts me off) It is/was assembled in CZE. I remember it was even running 6v electrics and kick start only just like the original 555 and you could pay about 40 pounds to get 12v electrics with electric starter.

Limited ediditon (only 555 made)

https://www.motolulu.cz/files/products/pionyr_3_-_motolulu.jpg

Production version Not trying as hard to look like the original.
(turn signals, the same final drive gear ratio, but with different sprockets, the limited edition had a big rear sprocket so it'd look like the original bike and so on. You could get black, red, yellow and blue version) - 850 pounds or so, not sure, but it was slightely cheaper.

There was also a modified version (not sure if you could buy it, or it was just for the show):

I've just seen the original one, after renovation for about 2000 pounds. Thumbs Up
There's the air cooled 175cc 2 stroke engine with 4 speed gearbox that was used in various bikes made by CZ back in the day. There's a belt driven fan attached to the engine.

Here it is, just click at the pictures to see the bike: https://www.motorkari.cz/motobazar/motorky/cz/cz-175-501/cz-175-501-697631.html Thumbs Up

I'd like one as a toy, could park it in the front garden and charge it from the power socket in my porch. Too expensive though.

Why doesn't anyone just make an electric Honda Cub?

I must say that is the worst looking contraption my eyes have ever had the displeasure of seeing.

Quite like the idea of an electric cub 90 though.

but illegal, unless you register, tax and insure it. And I wonder how many arbitrary hundreds of pounds an Insurance company would quote?

IMHO a scooter is one of the best candidates for employing an electric motor. The styling doesn't have to be that radical to protect and cover the electrical bits, plus people who like scooters don't buy it for the powah anyway. I'd gladly get one for city skipping if it was half the price and styled on this:

Also illegal to do 31mph in a 30 limit, but I see a lot of people doing that.

If you're going for road legal, I'd be looking at putting a similar system in to an existing bike or scooter.

An underbone rather than a scooter makes more sense if you want that style - hub motor in the rear and replace the ICE engine with batteries.
Insurance, from what I've seen, shouldn't be too bad and of course tax will be free for a pure electric vehicle.

Noted, but you can slow down if you see a copper. Fairly hard to disguise a 4kw supercharged MTB doing 30mph up a hill!

Yea; personally if I was going for 'performance' off road, I'd go for a mid drive setup, but the hub drive with some suspension does seem to make sense for road use.
