 |
|
Just a quick question, what sort of speeds should my carbed YBR125 be idling at? I was under the impression it should be somewhere between 1200-1500 RPM?
So, when its cold, first start of the morning, it normally idles around 1k RPM until its warmed up a bit, where it sits happily at about 1500ish RPM. But after Ive taken it for a proper long ride like a good blast down the dual carriageway for 30 odd miles it idles at 2k RPM? My thought jump to the possibility that its potentially running a bit rich or the idle screw needs fiddling with.
Is this a potential problem? I dont want to go fucking around with the idle/fuel mix screws if I dont want to so Id like some advice before I start poking and twiddling things. Or is it normal for bikes to idle higher with a hot engine after Ive been ragging the tits off it trying to get it up to 70? |

Is it DFi or Carb? If Carb, warm it up properly, then set the idle. Never set your idle at cold engine.
EDIT: it is normal for an engine with carburetor to idle a bit higher when hot, that's why you should do what I've told you. DFi unit just regulates the idle and mixture to be always perfect. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Well, I'm not sure how the YBR carb looks like.
Is this your carb? If so, then the screw with spring is your idle screw. Warm the engine up properly, then use your bare hand to turn the screw to set the idle. You should not be using any tools to set the idle! It's very easy job.
If this is not your carburetor, then please post a picture or read the service manual.

Now if Im reading the workshop manual right (which is 50/50 because its a dodgey badly printed blurry mess with Chinglish translation) that should be the idle screw there? |
