I thought I would buy a bike to fix up I found a peugeot xr6 50cc on a 56 plate for £70 it was running when I got it but looked battered so everything came off and cleaned painted and replaced were necessary however upon starting it i found it didn't run properly it either over revs without touching the throttle or won't rev ie just runs above tick over with revs on full I know now that something is missing from inside carburetor. The needle as you know fits in the throttle body slide and has a little c clip holding it in place on the one end but on the spring side it looks like something is missing I did have a makeshift clip holding it in place I'm thinking that there should be a plastic or metal thing that has a hole for the cable and then the spring applies pressure to the part that holds the needle in place from the top also I noticed through the inlet of the carb that the slide isn't going in its fully down position I think I'm right in saying this as when I just drop the slide down the carb without it being connected to anything but the needle it drops down a further say 5 to 6mm the throttle cable is fully slackened off and the spark plug is oily black rich I'm sure it's the fact that it's so rich that it's not running right but why is it down to this slide part I might be missing? ? Please any help if much appreciated as I live in the middle of nowhere and have no way of getting it to garage

The spark plug is oily, black & rich so I'm sure it's the fact that it's so rich that it's not running right but why is it down to this slide part I might be missing? Please, any help is much appreciated as I live in the middle of nowhere and have no way of getting it to a garage.
