Greetings all,

Bit of a strange one, bike is 2000 Daytona 955i, I refueled the other day, the premium unleaded was quite cheap at 133p a litre so thought yeah why not, filled it up to the brim as was almost dry (17.6L filled!).

Now, I remember when I turned the ignition on I heard the fuel pump prime for a few seconds as per usual.

Was doing a 40 odd mile journey, about 30 miles in I happen to notice the engine warning light was on, when I got home I connected up to the ECU with TuneECU, got the following error codes:

p1232 - fuel pump short circuit to battery
p1231 - fuel pump relay open circuit or short to ground
p0230 - fuel pump relay default

I tried to clear the error codes, and I think it was only p1232 that went, the others remained.

The bike will still start up just fine, and will run without issue, but whenever I turn the ignition on, I don;t hear the priming sound - I do hear a constant kind of electrical sound, and a click coming from one of the relays when I turn ignition off. After 3 heat cycles the engine light went off and no longer lights up, but still no priming sound.

Wondering if its ok to still be driving it at this point, or am I risking it dying on me at any moment? And of course, any advice how to resolve this appreciated.

Ta,

GhostRider

sounds like the relay or wiring to the relay circuit may have shorted. Shouldnt be anything to do with the petrol unless you splashed it about and got something wet and caused the short. Then you may have also gone up in flames though.

For how cheap it is i would look at putting a new relay in. It should definitely prime when you turn the ignition though.

Is this a relay in the block of relays under the seat? Any ideas which one?

not too sure on that. You will likely want to check the power supplies at
a) the relay
b) the fuel pump.

Just to be sure. You should be able to download a PDF of the manual with the wiring diagrams
