I've been putting money aside for a while now, building up to get myself a sports bike as my first big boy bike. Recently just had a go on the back of a DRZ and it's right down my aisle. Tall, nimble, fast and sexy as fuck in black and red. There for I may be getting one of these bad boys instead.

But why was the DRZ discontinued? Such a lovely bike.

Anyway what's your fav and why?

+1

It isn't anywhere near fast, supermotos generally aren't.
If I required a reliable day to day bike and it had to be an SM, a DRZ400 is what I'd have.

Otherwise I'd have a CRF450/KTM 625

Fuck thats gorgeous!

I'm pretty sure I'd find it fast enough coming from a 125.

The DRZ is not a supermoto. Razz

Supermoto's aren't particularly fast.

What do you want to use the bike for?

I had a CRF450X which was lots of fun but there are better supermoto bikes if I'd wanted to, which I may well get when I have a license again.

Husqvarna TE610, Husaberg 650, CR500, to name a few of the 'better' supermotos there are available.

What's your budget likely to be?

Give yourself a medal for the best joke told on BCF to date. You should focus on responding to my other response before making youself look like even more of a fanny.

What classifies a supermoto? Basically just general fun and commuting. The height and thin frame would be ideal for commuting around Glasgow, it's fast enough to have a great amount of fun on the twisties and I'd be putting some off road tyres on for added fun.

Only after a second hand, budget would be 2-3k.

Ste has listed some nice bikes..

I'd probably still be aiming for the 625/640 KTMs, CRF450/CR500 if you happen to have a lot of mechanical knowledge and can repair a 2 stroke with ease. Laughing

Why are they renowned for having to be fixed? (probably due to their main use) Or are they just hard to fix?...

Ooooh, we have a bite!

At least I don't look like a fanny on a Chinese cruiser Laughing Laughing

You're an actual retard - why are you bothered about a thin frame when the handlebars are so wide?

And you seriously think off road tyres are more fun than sticky tyres? I've got off road tyres on mine atm, on road they're shit.

On road they're shit because they are off road tyres perhaps? Ought to be the clue. They are more fun for my intended main use - off roading. Really thought that would've been a given mind you seem to be the only one struggling to pick up what I'm putting down.

I say again - you're focus and attention towards my posts has me worrying about your sexuality. Clearly I said something along the way to make this obsession of yours flourish - better keep adding water Thumbs Up .

A CR500 is a big 2 stroke. You'll need expensive oil and a fair bit of tinkering to keep it buzzing as it should.

I have a KTM 200 EXC, I've not ridden it yet Laughing but I have ridden the 144. It isn't fast but it does the offroading bit quite well.

Off road tyres on the road, bad idea, I never felt safe on them. I currently have no choice as SM wheels are excessively pricey.

Where I live is basically surrounded with B-roads and offroad havens so I'd only really be on tarmac inbetween fields. Would use it to commute through winter on some road tyres.

Too much fucking bikes and types to choose from Mad

You say commute.

Miles? I wouldn't want to do more than probably 8 miles on a solid seat like that, and 8 miles would probably result in mass engine wear on a poor single.

Well the main reason is for having fun off road but yeah my commute is about 30 miles in total there and back. So you have a point Sad

No commuting then Razz

Fuck 30 miles Laughing Erm, I'd probably grab myself a fun bike, 300 EXC or something and then some ghetto run around ER5 or something.

I'm against whatever the fuck you are.

Your lack of ability to read and put shit into context has rendered you not worth my time. Mon back when your arguements sound less infantile.

DRZ's are slow standard but a few mods make them decent, good exhaust, E cams and a properly jetted FCR39MX will make it see 42 - 44bhp, a nice increase from the standard 34.

I have had a DRZ, then a 690 SMC, a 525 and now I'm back to another DRZ.

The 690 was very fun but typical KTM niggles put me off it, sold before it blew up or got me stranded (9 month old bike, by the way). I was not fond of the 525 at all, too focused and impractical, it's good for short blasts and probably would run circles around a DRZ on the track and maybe even a 690. Ended up going back to a DRZ as it does what I want, very reliable, don't feel guilty abusing them off road and such and just feel at home on them.

Pics:

First DRZ, totally standard engine wise:

The 690 SMC (at the front):

The current DRZ, which is at 840 miles after riding it home from Manchester, extremely clean bike. Will be getting an FCR & e cams fitted soon:

You win by starting shit on one thread, being out done, so keeping yer tail between yer legs until you see another post you can start again from scratch at displaying your retardation? Very good kiddo Thumbs Up

Onwards to address those with intellect. I can't mind off the top of my head what the A2 restriction is but the DRZ seems ideal in the sense that it falls into that category with minimal/no adjustments needed.
