just posting this up incase anyone else has bought one recently.
A chap at my work just returned his Apache to the dealer after reporting a front brake failure.

riding along in town, goes to use front brake - 'nothing'.
turns out some bolts from the caliper have removed themselves.

no news on a reason yet, could be a one off, but could be a factory assembly issue (i understand that these are chinese of birth, but part assembled from crates in UK) not sure who would be assembling the brakes (i imagine a FE factory would be responsible for that part though).

just incase anyone is thinking of/currently collecting one - it might be worth double checking!
Safe riding.

(luckily my friend wasnt injured) but had the rear brake not been working, would have been a different story altogether.

EDIT: this is on a brand new - straight out of the factory purchase.

pretty sure it's the dealers responsibility to check the torque/retorque if necessary, there's even a dealers checklist.

They're at fault here, not the manufacturer.

Please name the dealer, was it OnTheWheel in Brighton?

They sold me dodgy parts as "new", which had clearly been taken of a used bike. The "new" complete front brake system required a full strip and clean as it was full of brown lumpy shit.

If you continue to use yours, I recommend stripping the master cylinder to inspect the painted piston Laughing then throw it away, and replace with a good, used Nissin master cylinder (ebay).

pretty sure my friend has no enemies, it wasnt on the wheel, its the other Sinnis dealer near Worthing i think.
He's already sent it back to them and asked for a refund - i think its shaken him up a bit (its been a while since he was out on a bike).

they are 'inspecting' the brake to see what the issue is - havent offered him anything yet.

Not to sound too provocative here. But as part of maintenance we should all be checking nuts and bolts are on tight on our bikes. Vibrations can cause things to loosen slowly but surely.

I wouldn't expect to check nuts and bolts were tight on a new bike though, that's the point of a PDI.
Sounds like the dealer took some shortcuts.

Agreed. But how new is it? Did the bolts fall out on day1, or 3 month? My CG125 is a rattly bucket, these chinese 125s will be the same I suspect.

Sinnis do seem to be making an effort to build a brand, so if the dealer pulls a Vince Candelin, your workmate might want to get on to Sinnis HQ and let them know that they were pretty close to being invited to pay for his whole life quadraspazz care.

DVSA also want to know.

Thing is, it happened, no kittens were actually maimed, it was probably a one-off, so what's he after? Is it just a confidence issue with the bike? Threadlock the bolts himself, job done. If he reckons he's going to find any modern budget 125 that can be relied on to be put together any better, I think he'll be disappointed. What's he going to get instead, a CBF125 from Victor Devine?

No, OnTheWheel is the main dealer/importer of them and could be considered to be Sinnis HQ.

They are utter cunts, trying to sell off old, used, dodgy parts as new and refusing any warranty.

Its disappointing because the stealth is reasonably good, other than the shitty 125 engine.

Sadface. Sad

Failbook stalking, Trading Standard, or the catchily named Jinan Qingqi Motorcycle Co., Ltd who run Sinnis.

But really, Loctite and ride it.
