Started to use my WR125R for a bit more offroading recently, had a few slippery moments today and im looking for some Strong handguards that protect the levers too?

Lever on the WR are really really long and so far ive been lucky, but i know if it falls they will snap.

So if anyones had any good experiences with Strong handguards that protect the levers and a bit of knuckle protection from bushes/trees etc, also, my bike is black, and red, so would like to stick with that colour scheme if possible Razz

Please let me know!

Thanks Very Happy

I've got these on Ze Beemer, in tasteful Radioactive Yellow with cable ties of awesomeness holding the inner ends in place. They bolt into your bars, so make sure you haven't got any internal bracing or other funnies in there.

Not the best quality, but why buy expensive guards to protect cheap levers? They worked fine in a u-turn drop, good enough for me.

Anything that's got a metal back bone should be fine.

Would those pitbike ones last after one drop? They have no metal bar do they? The wr levers are uber long, do you know of any metal reinforced ones? Had some really nice ones on my kx before with an Ali reinforcement, can't remember the name though Sad

Pit bike sized ones are the same size - only thing to be wary off is if it's got fat bars, but not sure they'd bother for the 125R.

Pit bike grips and throttles still take up the same space.

Depends how many times you're planning to drop it, and how hard. They've taken one low energy tarmac impact hit for me. If you're planning proper gripped-and-sorted stuff then I'd agree on getting something metal ribbed though.

I have some Acerbis handguards that replaced some shitty Chinese ones that snapped after the first drop. My Acerbis ones have survived numerous road and off-road spills plus having the bike leaning up against a wall. They were pricey (£70 I think) but have lasted well. You can get cheaper ones but essentially anything with a metal strip along them will work.

Yeah i dont fancy putting full blown knobblies on the bike as it will ruin the road handling, done it before on my MTX, massive mistake.

Will be keeping Avon/Michelin Dual purpose tyres, gotta be E marked too ofcourse so am likely to slide out alot when green laning so probably will get something with metal reinforcements.

Dont mind spending up to about 50 quid on them, what Acerbis ones do you have ?

Thanks guys Smile
