More than likely the water pump seal. Easily diagnosed by a lack of coolant in the radiator.
Rebuild water pump, flush gearbox with clean oil or motorcycle engine flush & then put it all back together again.
Had this on the CR, but this is what was involved on that. Yours is a little more simple;

This is not 650ml of 10w40.
After filling the gearbox up with a few litres of clean oil, kicking it over a few times slowly, pumping the clutch and rolling it back and forth in gear I dumped it and was left with this yummy mess;

More coolant in the gearbox. Seals obviously gone so have had to strip the pump out, seemed like a good excuse to decontaminate the clutch & refurb a few bits.

Yummy instant gasket on the water pump cover - knackered seals still in place

The cure for a failed water pump seal - screw and more instant gasket in the vent hole.

New seals/bearings fitted, reassembling the water pump;

This is called a gasket, I dont think many people recognise the existance of such things;

Even fitted a new seperator as the old one looked a bit scummy;

On to removing the 50% instant gasket, 50% mashed old gasket off the waterpump cover...

Much better;

Worth noting however that the next run the clutch shat itself bigtime, partially due to my n00b offroad skills, partially due to being soaked in coolant for ages. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Wow, that's rusty, what have you used as coolant?  ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ
