I killed my iphone. Death by water. I let it dry out and have had it in a tub of salt but no joy. I made the critical error of trying to plug it in before it had dryed out (as in, on the same day, before drying to dry it out..)
It's been over a week now and nothing. So I assume it's dead.

Does anyone know if there is anything else I can try, or will a phone shop be able to do anything that I can't?

Wow, you put something metallic and wet in a tub of salt? If it wasn't dead before it definitely will be with corrosion.

If you buy had phone insurance that covered water damage then you'd be able to claim. Wink

I'm sure it was dropped somewhere salty too? Like at the beach?

I put the salt in then tissue, then the phone. Carefully. I didn't have any silica sachets.

My problem with insurance is that I've attempted a claim on my home insurance, but it's a £250 XS. If I now buy phone insurance, I'm sure they share info? It's quite annoying, there is a long way to go on my contact!

And the water wasn't at a beach, it was in a sink!

Leave it for a day or so in a tub of rice, It can take ages for all the water moisture to evaporate or be absorbed into the rice so you've got to be patient.
NOT SALT! Shocked

Lil' trick from the Lingus School of Bodgery...
I use it for wind up watches which have been exposed to water.
Hang it over a bowl of petrol & cover the whole lot with a rag. Takes moisture out of anything. Some peeps use brake fluid - less stink, same dessication. Never tried it with a phone so be careful it doesn't fuck the finish...

I'd take a photo of my phone in a glass of water just to rub it in, but I'd need my phone to take the photo!
