 |
|
Hi
Had a hell of a rattle on this CG 125 and found the problem to be play on this shaft going into the clutch basket.
The effect of the play on it has created a bit of swarf from the casing which it has been contacting which has scoured the barrel a little bit.
Wondering if a bearing has been forgotten or the shaft ran in the casing using a bush or something or other lubricated by oil (considering previous mong put the oil filter in backwards I get a good idea that oil starvation has sped up wear).
The shaft and area of the engine.

So could I get a bearing or insert to place between the casing & the clutch basket? ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...

It looks like your a gearshaft bearing missing!
I d split the crankcases and renew the g/box and big end bearings. You can get high quality bearings from local engineering suppliers , or , David Silver spares.
It will be worth restoring the engine , being so rare. Be careful of non compatabile chnglish CG clones. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. Thanks fella
Not really that familiar with the bottom ends of these engines, most of the ones I've worked on have had top end problems and been of a different vintage (post 6V) or even slightly modified design.
Would like to do full check over before using it, the main bearings do seem good though but I know the damage could be further reaching.
Shame she needs it on the road now she's wrote her car off ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...

famous last words........they are quick and easy ,and cheap to do .Theirs usuallly one needle roller bearing and two ball cage bearings for the gearbox shaft and two main roller bearings for the crankshaft.
add a gasket kit , new set of allen key bolts, plus do the clutch plates while you are in their .....twenty minutes lapping the two valves and providing the barrell is nt too worn its a near enough rebuild.
even if the cylinder bareel is worn you can always pop it off easish at a later date....... ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. Aye since its now in a million bits (& she only paid £180 for it) figure may as well give it a good renovating.
Such a simple machine to work on (especially because some other doyle has left a few quite serious bolts un-torqued ) got all the resources to do it just needed confirmation of missing component ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...
