I was just looking for this to see if anyone had posted it. Probably needs to go in General Bike, nobody reads this section!

I can see the signs on the way into the circuit now:

Welsh MotoGP: Slicks not required.

Can't say I'm a massive fan of Silverstone so I'm hoping this track makes for some good racing.

Deals are being dealt, but I'll be astonished if the circuit gets built.

I doubt it will happen, they don't have any of the £280 million private investment yet. Sounds a lot like the doomed plan of Donington changes for F1. They are still recovering from it not happening

And it's still awful to get to. Even for a BSB sized event it's a ballache getting in and out. The facilities are pretty ropey too. The paddock isn't even that nice.

I will build it for just £200m!!
The track will be sheep shit compacted by walking 1000's of sheep round the same course for a month or two. Said sheep will then have their feet pegged to ground in strategic places to provide "crash barriers".
Some more sheep will be tied head-to-tail and staked to the ground to be sure the course is outlined properly.

Some colored in sheep will be tied and stacked up to make "luxurious real lambs wool seating" arrangements.

As wales has yet to discover electricity, dead / broken sheep will be burned at night at key spots of the track to provide heat and illumination.
Lamb Burgers will £3 ea.

This is Silverstones reply to the news. If they can't afford what Dorna are asking how can a Circuit of Wales?

Having invested heavily in its circuit and facilities, specifically to host the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship alongside Formula 1®, and developed the British round of the series into a highly successful event, Silverstone is disappointed not to be extending its MotoGP™ contract with Dorna.

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said: “We have expressed our desire to keep MotoGP™ at Silverstone, but the event is not sustainable at the fee level Dorna was proposing. Any future deal had to make economic sense and sadly we reached an impasse. The Circuit of Wales obviously believes it can make the finances work.”

Looking at the immediate future for the British Grand Prix, Phillips added, “Should the Circuit of Wales project be successful, it is unlikely that it will be ready before 2017. A venue for 2015 needs to be agreed as soon as possible to avoid having a negative impact on the success of next year’s British Grand Prix. Silverstone remains the ideal venue to stage MotoGP™; last year’s record crowds are testament to the excellent British Grand Prix experience provided by Silverstone.”

Dorna get free money, Silverstone gets to actually host the races on the cheap. Everyone wins.

Except the UK taxpayer.

I hope it takes off.

Silverstone is boring for bikes. Couple of bends, straight line, couple more bends, straight line.

It's a power circuit, for vehicles with big power that can overtake on the straights.

The artists impression of the Welsh circuit actually makes it look pretty decent. I can see elements from other circuits i.e. bottom left of pic looks like a mini assen.

Unlikely project is unlikely. For a £300m project to be worth investing in, it needs to make 10% pa return. Where is this £600,000 a week going to come from? Selling chips?

I'm convinced that at least half the purpose of the DVLA is to provide welfare for Swansea, for another example.

Hope it does finally come through but if it does the roads leading to the circuit need to be sorted first, they will be a nightmare if left as they are now.

Ooh, or maybe not. Seems like taffy.gov have done their sums and don't much like the answer. No £357 million no-risk underwriting. Tut Tut

I remain thus far unastonished. Whistle

Some people apparently thought otherwise. I'm baffled as to why.

I agree seems a mad place to build a track especially as its so high up and open to the elements.
We constructed buildings for a client there previously and it was a nightmare with the high winds......good luck trying to stay upright on a bike.
