Some much needed maintenance is starting on the storage device which NobCat logs too.

Although NobCat will still be in IRC, silently judging you all, it will not be logging anything until the maintenance has completed.

Ok,

The maintenance completed successfully, zero errors and all that guff.

All log files have been encrypted and copied to a server in China.

All logs that were hosted in the UK have been destroyed.

Currently NobCat is NOT logging anything in chat.

covent.gardens may agree with you, but seeing as 99% of IRC clients log automatically it's not like I set things up to log.

I just couldn't be arsed to disable it.

You don't post maintenance updates, and make everyone aware that logging is down, when it's something that you just couldn't be arsed to disable. If you're running/hosting the chat then it's a perfectly normal sensible thing to do! If you're just a user and leaving a bot there constantly logging what's said then I think it's weird.

temeluchus - I'd expect Facebook etc to keep logs of everything I've done on their site. I wouldn't expect people on my friends list to be keeping backed up encrypted copies of everything I post. It's freely available information so go ahead but it's not a normal thing to do.

I don't even use chat. I don't know why I'm commenting.

I guess if you are someone that uses the live chat and lots of people are logged in it can get a little fast paced, having the chat logged on your end would let you read back in case you missed something during the conversation.
